Crescent my cat was 6months old when I first met him.
He was a scruffy, shy and timid kitten. But as soon as our eyes locked I knew he had chosen me as his pet lol
He came up,rubbed himself against me and started to lick my hand. The lady at the cat shelter explained, that he'd been badly mistreated, had already been through three homes, and had never been allowed out.
She said that he would never become an outdoor cat because he was terrified of every single noise, and he would not survive outdoors.
And that he doesn't like to be cuddled etc etc.
A problem cat that nobody wanted.
I took him home, and I spend 5hrs,laying on the floor talking to him,as he lay quivering under the tv table.
I finally managed to get him out of there by leaving trails of cooked chicken to his bowl etc.
The next two months were spend with me and my children being careful not to startle him. He was terrified of absolutely everything that made a noise. Even the sound of someone knocking on the door.
Gradually I increased the "noise" around him.
At first he wouldn't let us touch him,but eventually he would lay
By my feet or next to me on the sofa.
And then one day, whilst I was meditating,he came and sat on my lap,I of course was over the moon :)

By now Crescent was ,nearly 9months,he would sit at the windowsill watching pple and other cats, but if a window was open,he would dash under the tv again.
So,I bought him a cat leash. He wasn't happy bout it,but sometimes you gotta be cruel to be kind,so I took him into my garden, and he cried and meowed so much that the neighbours came round, poor Crescent, he was shivering from head to toe out of pure fear.
I did this for about a week, once a day for about 5min each time.
The following week,I tied his leash to the back door, leaving him outside on his own crying and scratching at the backdoor trying to get in..
Eventually over the next two weeks, I gradually lengthened the leash and he was able to explore the garden.
By the end of the second month,he was no longer afraid of any outdoor noises at all, especially cars.

And then the happy day came when I looked at him and opened the back door and said "off you go, no more leash needed".
And off he went into the big wide world to explore at his leisure.

Nowadays,I hardly ever see him,he's always outside having fun.

I of course am deeply proud of him for overcoming all his fears and obstacles and becoming the brave cat he is today. And proving that things can change if you really set your heart and mind on it.

Anything IS possible and fear is a horrible thing that can bind humans and animals alike.
Facing what you fear the most,is a step forward to your own personal freedom which you deserve.

Meow!

A few years ago, i inherited a stafforshire bull terrier from a guy i knew who was going to prison.
Now this particular piece of work was involved with gangs and used the dog for dog fights.

On the day i got the dog, he growled and snarled at me, i just looked at him and said to him, "I know its not your fault, but we are going to start anew ok?" he snarled and carried on so i took him outside and chained him to his kennel.

The first time i took him for a walk, he broke the leash i had and tried to attack another dog that was behind a fence, so i took him home and tied him to his kennel for a couple of hours.

The next time we went for a walk, he barked and snarled at another dog on the other side of the street, so we went home again.
This continued for about 3 months until we could walk down the street without him making a sound and with a bit of positive re enforcement he was able to obey simple commands like heel, sit stay etc.

Long story short, by the end of the year we could walk up the road, him without a leash and quite happy in his own skin, other dogs would come up and sniff him and he would do the same and carry on walking and if anyone ever stopped to pet him... you were a friend for life...

He turned into a really happy go lucky dog, and surprised even me when i got 2 kittens by nurturing them and playing with them.
The biggest surprise i got was when my niece and nephew came over to be baby sat by me, he played with them and let them try to ride him and pull his tail until i stopped them but he loved those kids.. i could tell.

3 years after we first met, i came home from work to find my neighbour (my dogs favourite person after me) at my front door, it appears that somebody had come into the property and left the gate open, the dog had wandered off and got run over by a car and died.

I cried as i buried him with all his favourite stuff, i hope and prayed there was a doggie heaven and that he would be there, because lord knows after all he had been through, he deserved to be there.

I still miss him.

It may sound crazy to you,but deep down inside I know you believe
This, you can feel you cats presence. I don't wanna go into to much
Detail, cos I respect you.
But yes I'm a firm believer that animals have spirits like we humans
Do to. They do NOT vanish into non existence just because we cannot see
Them no more.

So, teddybear for you Raven

Hello fellow cat lover!teddybear not so
Sure if that makes us "good" people but ya
Understanding the languages of animals is a
Gift that all animal lovers should be proud of.
Because people like us can clearly also hear
Her the language of humans too. peace
