Have you ever done a CPR course? Did you ever have to use CPR?

I think it's essential to know what to do in an emergency situation, but I've recently learnt that there are some people who don't think it's right, or who are too scared to do it.

So, what's your take on it??

My brother saved my grandmother with CPR.....she died 3 years later, but those 3 years meant a lot to all of us. I have never done a course myself. maybe I should. thumbs up

i do it for living..
but i would have done it,even if my profession was different..in my opinion everybody should be able to give first aid..people do happen to find themselves in circumctances where that matters..

At one place i worked at, the company sent us on a course to do cPR and first aid.
The course was held in a community hall and so we all parked at work and to the work vehicles.

We learnt to do cpr on that very first day, when we got back to work, i was last out of the car and was following a customer into the workplace when she collapsed, i called out for help and then checked her vitals and started the whole cpr procedure.. she couldnt be revived and died right there... talk about trial by fire... i have never had to do it since...

CPR and BLS skills are a good thing to have...have taken quite a few courses, most of my jobs have required that the staff have their CPR and BLS cards. Have had not had to use CPR on anyone.handshake

Had to do a course for the Social Services and part of the training was C.P.R. We all had to practise on this lifelike doll and believe me it suffered a few cracked ribs in the process.Alarm bells going off all over the place!!!!!!!!!! Not an easy thing to do,but well worth knowing wave

Boban, I'm serious for a change. If your best mate stopped breathing, wouldn't you want to know what to do to bring him/her back??

Well for a bit i was wondering if i had done everything right, the paramedic must of seen the look on my face because she said "You did good, sometimes regardless of your best efforts not everyone makes it"
I was relieved..

As I have no Medical knowledge my "diagnose" could do him more harm than actually save his live
but I do watch Doctor House regularly , on TV ...

You did your best, you're one of the few who'd actually take action in a situation like that. I salute you!!!

If someone's stopped breathing and even worse, if the heart's stopped beating, there's nothing you can do that might cause harm - apart from standing there and doing nothing! Do a CPR course, please!
