DodgeBabe: So do you believe then in karma, my dear lady?
Sounds like it.
Of course, "What goes around, comes around." A variation, one might say of the old adage, "Do unto others....." Have had my proverbial butt kicked enough in life not to believe in karma.
My interpretation of the word Karma is moving energy. Our true nature having given careful consideration to the nature of my physical being leads me to agree the "I" cannot be found. From that deduction i agree our true nature is moving energy, subtle winds driven by the laws of cause and affect. Without cause nothingness.
The way we react to the changes that occur is creating the outcome of our reactions. So if for example i develop anger then the ongoing experience from such a reaction build on anger. On the other hand if i accept i myself created the seed that ripened in interdependence i'm able to more easily develop compassion etc while the seeds of my tomorrows

amahlala: I sort of view Karma/Fate/WhatHaveYou as both something that happens to one and others and also believe that ones actions also help to shape them.....(wishy-washy and indecisive I know...but it works for me)
I think you are a "Fate"-Type Person, A. Thats cool.

Kind of interested in the subject at the moment.
Quite possibly am. I know though, that when I stopped striving to be what I perceived others wanted and/or needed me to be, I became a much happier person within me...

Thats true. We can all do that sometimes.
Fate is what I have gone with generally; I have faith in my intuition, so am guided by that.
I spent quite a lot of time studying the view held by HH Dalai Lama (HHDL), some how sent me into international debate and got me to construct a UN document on behalf his government in exile. Was once upon-a-time masquerading as a director of a Temple that got unlawfully sold. So i am trying explain I've actually studied a bit and have for many years looked into the subject matter of this thread. On the other hand I'm just a guy, a Vietnam Veteran i tried to find some understanding that made sense...cant spell for nuts...
If we still our minds and closely examine in what way do i exist, what is the true nature of my being. I find ever changing cells, toenails the grow, hair the grows, skin that falls off, food digestion, bones made of minerals, thoughts that change, all of it impermanent.

Then what is my nature?
A Vietnam Vet discussing fate and karma. Thats interesting. Maybe someone who has faced what you did finds more meaning and looks deeper into this subject.

Does it matter what we do, how we treat others, or how much we achieve? Is it all pre-destined?
Or is it really worth the effort to try and make a difference?
