"Better to die in glory than live in dishonor" is the translation result I searched from internet. It's a very good old saying of Chinese, if I translate it directly, should be like this:
"I prefer to be a jade even it's broken, rather than to be a full tile."
I don't know which dynasty is the saying from. It often is used to describe a person who dislike to do bad things for certain purpose.
