Honesty On Line (94)

I'm wondering why is there so much dishonesty on line, why do people feel they need to lie in any form I know we all tell fibs from time to time or avoid the truth sometimes....but down right LIES just make me sick....is it mostly this medium that attracts liars?
Is honesty a thing of the past....or is it the internet interaction that prompts people to think hmmm I can say what I like and no one will know....
I am clever and usually work out a liar or dishonesty..
what are your thoughts on this subject...

Not always true. I know some great parents who just have children that like to lie and deceive but their family didn't teach them that or condone it.

If you are for real and are here truely looking,you tell the truth,have up to date photos,you don't lie about your job and where you live,or whether you are seeing anyone,or single.You tell the truth.....If you are here for fun and games,don't tell the truth you are not serious about fining some one...you are wasteing your time and mind......I am afraid sweet there are all kinds in the world,in real life and the interent....theres nothing we can do,but go with our gut and hope for the best.Not let the bad ones stop us from finding the good ones.

hi barbara I posted in your thread love, and your story is a prime example of what I'm talking about here.....I am careful and this time around my on line experiance has been OK and thats only because I do some research and Im very wary and careful who I trust..I mean on line you have to be and I think its kinda sad really, as this whole ON LINE concept has great potential for getting people connected, but its fraught with danger and LIARS......Ohh well

right..once i was dating a girl,she asked me to bring my ID on next date
i had no idea what she was about,she told me wanted to make sure i was not married,then explained about married men who lies about themselves!

Ha, Sweetly, Texas Barbara is asking the same questions on another thread.
The basic strategy, I think, is to get *highly* personal from the start. You want to know everything about your prospective mate. The more you know, the greater the probability that you'll catch him or her in a lie or inconsistency.
Some people aren't comfortable getting personal immediately. I'm sure it's fine to proceed at your own pace, but I would suggest not investing much emotionally until you have acquired considerable knowledge of your potential lover.

Hi Ambrose, yes i think barbara and I started out threads at the same time......while I havent actually this time around been burned or anything as Im VERY cautious now, I do however wonder what their motives are and WHY they bother, I just wanted to get some varied opions on this subject as I often do wonder,and barbra is a prime example of what I'm talking about
But your advice is extremely wise advice and I do adopt this course of action myself in my search for love on line.

I'm not sure that was sneaky enough, Scented. GG is a great believer in being informed about me in all my various and wondrous aspects. 
I wonder if Barbara will reveal a bit more of minutiae of her bad experiences with respect to how much she "grilled" these guy(s)...

Would be nice if you were more specific.
The way this reads, "people" could be everyone online, or everyone on dating sites, or "some" people.........Male? Female? Age groups?
An example of the scenario that prompted you to start a thread labelling "people" online as liars........???
