tomcatwarne: I have my suspicions a lot of money is sidetracked elsewhere.
There are laws pertaining to and governing fundraising organizations. I believe as little as 10% of the funds received, is all that is required by law to legally represent any given charity. Unfortunate, but true. Of course it depends on the country. But generally speaking, I believe this is the case.
The irony is, that the charity will gladly accept the funds, even if it is only 10% of what the fundraising organization collects. They won't refuse it. So everyone gets what they want, especially the fundraiser.
It is utterly amazing how much truth lies deeply in words and phrases. I've been interested in this stuff for quite some time, and the results, many times, truly leave you dumbstruck!
I never thought about the word charity before....but your statement motivated me to *look* beyond....

That's very interesting. I had no idea that the disbursement was so low.

I've actually heard as low as 5% in some cases. Again, the charity won't complain as they know the law and wouldn't refuse the needed donation, no matter what the amount.
That is great. I've known a few people who have done that. Just out of curiosity, how many times a year are you able to grow it long enough to donate it and how long does it have to be?
I can't comment on specific organizations but what I stated is generally true. You'd need to see their financial records. And by law, they must present them for public review.
