chattierPeterborough, Ontario Canada1 Threads 11 PostsI thought i was in love with the man i spent 18 years with and after we broke up i realized i never really loved him,i thought i needed him to survive.
Been there....done that. We were so young when we got together and I thought I loved him. Now I am not so sure. I think infatuation when you are young can turn to a dependance of sorts. You feel comfortable with that person. Sometimes it can be low self esteem that keeps you togeher.
Well if you spent that much amount of time together there had to be some sort of love involved wouldn't there?
Maybe now that your not together you could be just telling yourself to move on that it wasn't love?
But I think that you know its true love when nothing seperates you. And the meaning of "through good times and bad times" actualy does exist in your relationship. Some couple now a days just run away at the first site of problems instead of trying to resolve them.
I think that if there is truly real love in a relationship that means that there is good communication, good trust, faithfulness and honesty. You just don't have any doubts and you just know. Its a feeling you get I guess.

lolI don't think anyone can put a title on that. I think if your super happy together & adore each other's company thats love enough for me. Cause how does anyone really know TRUE love. I don't think there is such a thing.
I was told that it was love when she admits to farting in the bed.

Ha ha ha tooo, funny we were just talking about this at work........and the consenus was, yes if you both can lay in bed and fart and giggle, it gotta be true love, lmao !!! 
I spent 5 1/2 years with the same girl (never cheated or did anything mean), and she just wasnt the 'One'...it happens y'know?

But on a more serious note. I agree with you chattier, love isn't about dependancy. Its positive, and right for your situation and your growth. As you've discovered you don't need anybody to survive. But on the other hand, to be human is to have weaknesses. And out of our weaknesses are born beauty and the ability to feel deeply. Also, I read somewhere that you feel love right under your rib cage. So combined with needing eachother, being positive and right for eachother, and that feeling in your stomach. I'd say your in love.
