So then, why do so many people base their relationships on it? Many swear that it has to be there, but yet, they don't seem to understand that it fades away. Why is that?
Also, knowing this, why worry if it's there at all?
Maybe the only things that really matter is first attraction, then all the other little things that follow.

Because without it in the beginning it is just too dry and way too much work and distractions can get in the way. I prefer to have my total attention on my mate and chemistry makes it all the more fun.
I haven't experienced a 'loss' of chemistry in a relationship as yet and my relationships which have all been long term have ended for other reasons than that.
Perhaps a loss of chemistry is down to boredom or behaviours to turn a person off?
