What is your idea of the perfect first date? For me, a candlelit dinner with a good bottle of red wine, interesting conversation and some soft background music. But then I am a hopeless romantic!

I have a date this weekend in Palma, and I intend to do the dinner, red wine roses (white of course) and as much conversation as is required.

But the dilemma I have is:-

What is the first thing I should say when we meet at the airport?

I know things like, you look stunning, what a beautiful hairdo etc, but come on ladies what would you like the first sentence to be?

Just don't overdo it or you won't sound genuine, hello you look beautiful/lovely/wonderful is sufficient before asking about her trip. Later ,if things go well, you could comment on other things you find physically attractive like her eyes for example. She may however want you to be more attracted to her sense of humour or intelligence, so be careful with the flowery compliments. And please DON'T say what a beautiful hairdo!!

Good Luck!

That's easy, The perfect first date is one where I don't get slapped or arrested.... rolling on the floor laughing

On a serious note, A nice place where we are able to talk and learn about each other. Good food and/or drink is a plus but a first date is way too early to worry about being romantic.

You all so lucky! Cant do any of that in my cowtown. First off, there is no such thing as Privacy..... its considered bad manners to go sit at another table if there is a seat vacant at a busy table... you gotta sit down THERE! Then if there is any more space left at the table, the owner or his wife will occupy that and go into an in depth conversation about everything that is happening in the village.
And of course, women dont talk much here... the men do all the talking and laughing and joking and back-slapping... women just sit and be grateful they got taken out, usually they get left at home. So to be on a "date" and go to a restaurant here is looking for trouble... and your reputation will probably be ruined if you seen with the same guy more than once, and also if you seen with an assortment of characters over the space of a year. So all be grateful for the miracle of living in civilisation out there where you got things like cosy little wine bars where twosomes can chat in peace!smitten love love frustrated

crying wave Ah Wedy, you making my heart bleed for you.....
And you such a good looking guy, howcome the ladies around the fresh produce section in the supermarket are not picking you up? Or the frozen food section? or the meat market? If you lived in my town, I would probably ride into you on my bicycle and knock you over, fall over, get all entangled with you and the bike, mish-mash all our purchases all over the road, and then you'd have to help load everything up and come over to my place for coffee where we can sort out what groceries belong to whom... and then you'd be so impressed with me, you'd invite me out......! and we can go and cause a stir in the village and give them something to talk about for the next season at least. dancing dancing
