When you go out on your first date that it's usually out to eat? I mean hey.....the last thing I want to do is eat. But really, think about it.....normally the first thing that someone suggests is getting a bite to eat together. I know I have this in common with someone else....eating....we all do it....I hope. But, seriously......I don't want to sit around and eat with someone I'm meeting for the first time.
Now....tell me you getting ready to break out the ATV and hit the woods and I'm ready to go.
What do you suggest would be a good activity that would help you get to know the other person for a first...second date?

Agree with you Woodz. A walk in the park chatting and getting to know someone is more my idea.

I've wondered this, too. I believe it's because having a bite to eat together is often considered to be a good ice breaker--usually people who are ready to eat are more relaxed, content, etc... I suppose it has been done, but one doesn't really hear, "hey, let's meet at Radio Shack and pick up a day planner or cell phone battery". Know what I mean? Coffee, tea, sidewalk cafes all speak, "let's take it easy. " it's a casual sort of thing.

Exactly! Plus you don't eat well, either. You don't want the other person watching you eat or how much you eat.

I'm not relaxed when I go out to eat though. I have to be still. I see what you're saying. I just don't like to go out to eat all the time. I'd rather eat before I was picked up then go do something fun together. Eating isn't fun....it's a necessity.

Again ......May I refer you to my earlier post LOL
jac379: I agree. I'd be too nervous want to eat. Walking is good because its not so face-to-face, in-yer-face.
Maybe I'm a bit autistic.

Yes....and I always hear the remark, "Is that all you're going to eat?" I'm thinking to myself....don't I look healthy? Not all of us are pigs.....in front of someone else.

How about this? A long time ago, in a far away galaxy, I had just started pal-ling around with a gal and asked her out. Our first date? The zoo! She absolutely loved it, and it was one of the coolest zoo parks with many trails, natural habitats, etc... It pays to be creative with dates, I think. Or, if it is in season, ask the person to the county fair or rodeo, a carnival, perhaps an art museum showing, a small intimate concert, song fest, hiking, overnight camping, if you're both cool with that, a magic show, a walk on a long beach or river bank, the choices that are non-food are endless! Hey, you got me thinking!
