It depends on the circumstance. If you are dating rich guy it may or may not be problem assuming that the person does not live same country you live.

For average joe this may be a problem, since the cost of getting the immigration paperwork for somebody else is very discouraging; it takes time and lots of money. Also, if the person works for a living it may not be easy to get enough time off to go and visit that person in another country.

For relationship to work you have able to see that person on a more periodic basis, share time with that person and get to know that person. You cannot carry a relationship over the net; that's not a relationship.

At least that is my point of view; other may think differently.

Yes, all those things & they take time to build. There are advantages & disadvantages to it being long distance. With a long distance, you're usually forced to take longer to get to know someone, & can't rush into things. And that's a plus.

Sometimes, tho, it's not as easy to communicate. Some things are easier to explain or discuss in person. But if it's the right person, you'll get through with exactly those things scottyburd posted.

I have a girlfriend who met and eventually married a guy long distance- she was in Sydney but moved to Scotland to be with him...love can do that.

However, I often have scammers email me from the other side of the world with comments like "I read your profile and just had to email you. I was born in Liberia, educated from Edinburgh, grew up into New Jersey and I'm current in New York. Distance not is a problem because love is all that matters".

My reply goes something like "Yep, love is all that matters and distance is not a problem...say, lets meet up on Friday night for a few drinks and a movie". I live in Sydney- so I never hear back from them- but they must think I was born yesterday. Sadly, some of us were.
