Not well up on Religion but to relate that time to modern times one could say that Jesus was a socialist and was a threat to those in power at that time. Remember he cleared the moneymen from the temple. Jesus as we have been told was a Jew.... he was hijacked by the christians and Jews to this day are waiting for the second coming. The world is in crisis because of the money system.

I often wondered why December 25th was chosen to celebrate the birth of Christ. If the accounts in the Bible are correct, the time of Jesus birth would have been closer to mid-summer, for this is when shepherds would have been "tending their flocks in the field" and the new lambs were born. Strange enough I found an ancient pagan religion, Mithraism, which dates back over 2,600 years that also celebrated the birth of their "savior" on that date

I feel lucky that I believe in God and am a christian, I try to live my life in a good decent christian way, ok maybe the turning the other cheek bit doesn't really work but the basic message of Christ is to treat other people as you would have them treat you and it works, have a bit of respect for those you live , work and socialise with, do the odd good deed without looking for anything back and you will have a good life and feel better about yourself as a person.
I wasn't around when God died on the cross so he probably didn't have me in mind when he was doing it.
