"What matters most is that we cease to be an invisible people. That our government is irrelevant is their fault.

That the people are irrelevant is ours.

Sovereignty belongs, not to the State, or the government, but to the people. We have outsourced it for too long to an incompetent, amoral and self-serving elite. Now we face the starkest of choices: use it or lose it."

Seems whilst we were all worrying in the west about everything from communism and nuclear war to the muslim nations and terrorism, we are actually on self destruct as capitalism begins to eat itself. I'm sure there is a symbol in some culture depicting a snake devourind itself....perhaps the Mayans!conversing

Godsgift: Nobody is asking for rioting but electing people who continue to suit themselves regardless of those they represent is wrong.

Ross30: You don't seem to realise that cutting the minimum wage will create more jobs and save existing jobs, the minimum wage is far too high in Ireland as it is and I wouldn't be surprised now with the EU/IMF in charge the minimum wage was reduced to between €6.50-€7 per hour in the next few years.

A job is a job, it gives someone a sense of dignity even if its menial work.

Yeah well for some of us already on it , struggling to pay mortgages, running a car to get to work and trying to raise children . it's gonna be hell

Somebody on the minimum wage should never have been approved for a mortgage in the 1st place, then again we are talking about the idiotic banks in Ireland, only about 5% of the work force are on the minimum wage at the moment and most of these people are probably young people without kids.

Someone on the minimum wage should be living in social housing not on a mortgage for crying out loud.

I'd march if I thought there'd be a proper turnout of people demonstrating the real feeling of the citizens. No one pays attention to any less than 100,000 on a national march.. realistically you'd need 250,000+

Whats wrong with renting, the majority of Germans rent, also if you had decided to rent your landlord/lady would have paid for house repairs, house insurance, home and good insurance, property tax, you wouldn't have to pay for beds etc.

That sort of attitude that people on minimum wage should be homeowners contributed to the sub prime crash in America.

Renting doesn't set people's lives backwards, I rent myself and I see myself as very ambitious.

Not out of tocuh with the real world just common sense, I coped onto the fact the Irish property bubble was unsustainable from 2002-03 onwards, thats why I didn't pay stupid money fort a house.

My motto as regards family planning is quite simple also "If you can afford kids, have them, If you can't afford to have kids wait till you can afford to have kids"

If I can't afford something I don't buy it and I save for a rainy day.
