I believe they are in many ways. They know how to be loyal. Do we? They know how to be faithful. Find me ten faithful men..... See, what I mean? They know how to love unconditionally, most people are incapable of that, except, maybe with their children. Thanks. lees127applause cheering innocent

youre right of course

i had a dog that by the time he was 4 had become my partner

so sensitive to my moods and just a really developed personality

he was my husband til his passing at 15

i still over 2 yrs later sometimes have a week where i think of him alot and realize how much i miss himmoping

life goes on and there is always another dog out there in need of a loving home so i bear that in mind and get one when there is a void in the family.

wave

yep my pets and my kids i could discuss all day with interest and prideblushing

mindfful: Are animals smarter than us? or just more commitment-able or ???

i was thinkin about this place and the people and my pets over the years
yeah dont ask me how i made that segue cuz i really dont know

i had these 2 cats once- had em for years. (my cats go outside to potty but come in to hang out and rest and eat. otherwise they are always out.)

in the house they seemed to hate each other- all through the years it never relaxed much. if they were passin thru a door at the same time or one jumped on the counter to eat and didnt realize the other one was already up there there would be a tussle. only for a brief second but they might even really slap the others face.when they slept it was at opposite ends of the house.

their relationship seemed to be routine for them- they never grew into anything more tolerant nor more or less aggressive between them.

they went on this way for years. i quit interfering and let them be animals having their own relationship that was none of my business.

meanwhile i would spot them outside clearly hanging out together and possibly even stalking together

but we dont do that- stay out of animal relationships or even have boundaries and stay- is it commitment or tolerance or what?

and why dont we have it?

They stay because they get fed well, probably just two very territorial cats regarding the inside house area, but outside it is considered no-man's-land which they can share. They won't want a full on fight, as this can be life/survival threatening, there will be an inbuilt awareness of this. An eye could be lost or a limb disabled. Do they actually think along these lines ? No, there is just some magical code of nature to survive built in to most life forms. Some animals live independently, others need each other.

True some animals dont but lions different story. When a new male over takes the present male leader of the pride and kicks him out, then the new male hunts down any kittens and kills them all. That way only his offspring will be part of his pride.

Smarter? I don't know, perhaps a different kind of intelligence than we have or one that has evolved a different way.

But I will say that my cat is a stickler for routine and she tells time better than I do! laugh

Have to disagree, claudya. Animals do indeed abandon their young. My daughter bottle raised a litter of pups abandoned by their mother at birth. I've seen cows abandon their calves. I've bottle raised foals that were abandoned by their mothers at birth. Even animals in the wild will abandon their young.

Animals are smarter than humans because their world is based on instinct alone. Fight or flight. Survival of the fittest. There is one species of animal on this planet (other than humans) who kill just for the sake of killing: the domestic cat.

Humans have so many problems simply because we possess the power of independent thought. It's our downfall.

hello mindful, wave

i don't think that animals are smarter than humans...

my idea is somewhat related to the imsophie's opinion...

i just think that they live simpler life...they:

"don't think too much",

"don't analyse their condition",

"don't need to have plans for future"

"don't try to change the world"

"don't struggle themselves in the eternal search for hapiness"

"don't look for true love" wink

i would say that they stop at perceiving their surrounding environment, adapt to it, without going farther..

I think animals are smarter than we are. Think about it, are they destroying the world? Do they declare war outside their territory? They are unto themselves. We on the otherhand are jerks.
