Fawlty Towers is an absolute classic. Other favourite sitcoms of mine are Frasier, Thin Blue Line and The Worst Week of my Life. I prefer British humour to American slapstick

Yes it was, I even saw an American magazine ranking it at the top- above Seinfeld. There are so many classic scenes in that show- "Dont mention the war!!!!" laugh

it definately was one of the best ! but lets not forget ARE YOU BEING SERVED , DAD'S ARMY, YES MINISTER, ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES, ALLO ALLO and SOME MOTHERS DO HAVE THEM. we may not agree as to which one was the best but one thing is certain. BRITISH COMEDIES ARE THE THE FUNNIEST .

I think Fawlty Towers was brilliant. And maybe all the better for only making 12/13. Going out on a high. Not sure if Monty Pythin counts as a sitcom, and not sure if Friends/MASH/Frasier count as British!

On a more recent note, anyone who hasn't seen the Inbetweeners is missing out on a future classic!

In response to: Only thirteen episodes were ever made, but imo Fawlty Towers was British sitcom at it's very best.

What are your favourite sitcoms?

Absolutely brilliant.

My favourite would be The League of Gentlemen. It's so dark, different, eccentric, intelligent and outright weird that only the British could come out with it.

I used to live in Hadfield where the League of Gentlemen was filmed. They certainly weren't short of suitable extras up there.uh oh

My ALL time favourite would have to be "Til death us do part"

Alf Garnett was a classic in that show.
