The New Year approaches and some people make resolutions but find them difficult to keep.
On many threads recently I have seen many C.S. users say they are trying to quit smoking, and having been there I know the difficulties involved. I have been clean for almost 11 years now.
Why don't we start an encouragement thread for those that need support as we did for Jeepers, which I understand actually worked for him.
If you want to give up,sign up. Count your days free and share it with C.S.

Just a thought.
They say as long as you remember for how long you haven’t smoked, you haven’t quitted yet.
I haven’t smoked for 13 months. But I’m trying to quit.
bestbefore: After 11 years I know for sure that I will never smoke again.
Keep up the good work as I'm sure you do feel the benefits if only in your pocket!
Well… pocket has never been an issue, and frankly the only reason I’ve stopped smoking was a sight I’ve seen once:
At our coffee room at work, two women were sitting next to each other, they were of the same age, but one was whole-life smoker while the other never smoked. The woman who never smoked looked like at least 10 years younger than the woman who smoked. That was the reason for me.

Well done you, and thanks for sharing. It only takes a small thing in life to help trigger the midn to rejection.Unfortunately I have to say mine was loss of family and friends through smoke related disease.

It's not a smoker bashing thread. I have read loads of posts lately about people wanting to give up,so just thought this might help.
You cannot be ignored on here anyway it's impersonal.
Ive also met lots of people who say on their profiles that they are non smokers or are trying to give up. Ive found that the majority of them smoke more than me.
I smoked for 36 yrs, and also Quit before jeepers, I quit for a year and a half, and was doing so well, when I was in Germany and mixed launguage, and couldnt read the signs, and the airport was called the Flugaughten,(probably wrong spelling Lol) i got kinda stressed and smoked a cigar, and it was all over... been smoking again for about 4 months, and desire to quit again, tho I guess its when IM READY to quit, NOT when someone else pushes me to it.... tho no harm in trying, we all have to make that decision, when WE are ready... I think I will quit again, tho on my own Calender... and on my own decision, Tho I hope you have suceess changing others, Only THEY can make that change, when they are ready..

Boban1: My father gave up smoking after being a smoker for almost 60 years ,and he smoked three packs a day ... Somehow I don`t see the reason to stop smoking, and see all these campaign against smoking and smokers as contra-productive ...maybe that was their goal
Hello you!
It's a controversial subject and I'll probably get earache from some people, but for anyone that does want help, sometimes sharing your thoughts helps. After all most other subjects get aired on here!

You'll get no grief from me Boban. I'm just grateful to be off them! I'm in no position to lecture anyone. I smoked for more than 30 years!

I am not here to convert, and this is not a counselling thread.Who am I to preach to others what they care do with their lives. As I said in my opening post without mentioning any names several members have told of their desire to quit. The thread is here for those who want to post their thoughts, and maybe need encouragement.

So true Larry. I quit 12 years ago and it was because I wanted to. I would only get mad at people who said "You shouldn't smoke you know".....like duh don't you think I know that stupid. Well that's what I wanted to say to them. But I would say "I know, I know" and smile. But I did manage cold turkey. Finally have no desire to smoke, but that craving took years to go away. Now I am trying to diet, which I find hard, cause you can't stop eating!!!
