emmaline: yes, yes, of course more than 50% voted for him. you are not understanding what the point is. and that is the rise in white supremacy groups. and why? because he is black. and all this violent political rhetoric is poisoning our country, and the former line in the sand, is now no longer there. it is terrorism, plain and simple! the similarity between terrorist extremists and palin is so blatantly obvious, do you not see?

and again i shall ask, when did putting crosshairs, and thinly veiled violent rhetoric ever become ok in political debate in america?

I'm not a doctor, but if I were, I would suggest watching a little less of Hardball and the Ed Show.

Now go check out the "bullseye" as posted above please? bouquet

White Superacy group and Black Power groups existed prior to Obama. But suddenly it is today's rhetoric that is poisoning America?

They both have been around since the 1950s and 1960s.....America made it thru the last 50 years.

Sure you are doing a Rob Emanuel here? To manufacture a crisis?

I don't approve of either...mind you. But have never been effected directly by either, either.grin

hate group activity in the U.S. was disturbing and widespread throughout 2008, as the number of hate groups operating in America continued to rise. Last year, 926 hate groups were active in the U.S., up more than 4% from 888 in 2007. That's more than a 50% increase since 2000, when there were 602 groups.

Officials reported that Obama had received more threats than any other presidential candidate in memory, and several white supremacists were arrested for saying they would assassinate him or allegedly plotting to do so.

In a very strange way, the tradegy in Tucson reclaimed one the wounded in Loughlen gun fire, a second time.

James Eric Fuller...one of the wounded and released....was arrested for threatening AZ Tea Party Co Founder Trent Humpheries and disrupting a Church service.

Mr. Fuller...was strong supporter for Gabriel Gifford and had been at the market event. Wounded twice the former military veteran drove himself to the hospital for two days of treatment.

But on release from the Hospital, Mr. Fuller began to find Loughlen's reasoning for the shooting to lay at Mr. Humpheries door. So ......

began to threaten Mr. Humpheries enough to warrant his arrest.

Mr. Humpheries....said this...."I had nothing to do with the murders and the shooting of Gabby Gifford. And I wonder if he (Fuller) is crazy or is he the canary in the coal mine? Is he saying what other people are thinking in their hearts? If so that is a problem."

Mr . Fuller....gave a TV interview at the Safeway store in which he said this...."Today, I am back on my feet, more or less, and in a combative mood.It helped me, I have never been in trauma like this before in my life."

Later MR Fuller went to Loughlen's house....'to forgive Jarel Loughlen for shooting him" To which Louglhen 86 year old neighbor, Mr.Elder said this....."If anyone shot me, I don't think I would say...hey feller, that is alright."

And yes I will site the complete article for you to read.....

gininitaly: Clarence Dupnik, Sheriff Pima County

After Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head and a number of others were wounded or killed in a shooting in Tucson, Ariz. on Saturday, Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said that the state has "become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

Addressing the tragedy at a news conference, the sheriff said that law enforcement had reason to believe that Giffords was specifically targeted in the attack. He added that evidence suggests one suspect -- 22-year-old Jared Loughner, who is already in custody -- likely did not act alone.

"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous," said the sheriff. "And unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

When asked by a reporter if Giffords being shot could have been motivated by "prejudice and bigotry," Dupnik responded, "All I can tell you is that there's reason to believe that this individual may have a mental issue. And I think that people who are unbalanced are especially susceptible to vitriol."

While speaking, the sheriff said that himself it included, "it's not unusual for all public officials to get threats." However, he said the sentiment doesn't come without consequences.

"And that's the sad thing of what's going on in America," he explained. "Pretty soon, we're not going to be able to find reasonable, decent people who are willing to subject themselves to serve in public office."

The rub is, that unfortunately they are the lackeys of the ones who control the quality of our lives.

emmaline:

We need to do "what is right" by ending the bitter partisanship that has taken over politics; focus on healing in place of hatred; put our energies into building together instead of tearing apart; and defy the mob mentality that places crosshairs on maps targeting political opponents and promotes "Second Amendment remedies."

bouquet cheers .... but it does seem that many don't agree with this plain common sense and revel in keeping the polarization alive... for what I don't know. It certainly isn't in their best interests to do so, it's not good for a country in real crisis socially and financially, it won't improve the quality of their lives ... and yet... they will continue arguing instead of joining together for the mutual benefit of everyone to find solutions to real issues. I mean why, what is their gain... if you're not making over a million a year or a contractor for the military.. there is none. doh

emmaline: this does include freedom of speech and the responsibility it encompasses.

violent rhetoric and putting crosshairs over states, is not being very responsible with that freedom

That's still protected under the constitution. It may not be appropriate in many people's eyes but it's legal and practiced by both sides.
