Shell225: Im fine Martia, my house wasnt affected, the rain stopped so the flash flooding subsided about 6 inches from my place cats are great and over the shock

Sparky is doing well, but very wet and suffering from greasy heel, doing my best to keep it from getting worse I get cut off from him every few days, but other than that its all fine.

I've been very very lucky.

Great initiative BB listing emergencyvolunteering site.applause

I went to Brizzie on Wed to check on some friends and my late grandma's house in Paddo went under.crying

I left late at night and just got out of the city before the river broke its banks.

I was on the Gold Coast in the 1974 floods as a newspaper reporter and went into Surfers to check on things and the local surf club boat crew rowed me down the middle of a flooded Cavill Ave. It was a surreal and incredible experience.

Another weird experience I had was in a 1970s cyclone when I stood on the first tee of my golf club and teed up with my driver straight into the force of the wind. Gave it every thing I had but the little white pill only travelled about 40m forward before flying back over my head.rolling on the floor laughing

Prayers and thoughts are with the many victims of the floods.

Merriweather: Hi BB First thing I did at work on Wed. was research and type up a sign and laminate it for the hotline emergency...the numbers for friends seeking friends, family and relatives etc..

I work for UnitingCare Wesley which is National and Lifeline is part of our organisation.

I cannae say more due to confidentiality... but lets say... we are all concerned and united in thoughts for all those in need.

Merri, I checked out your profile. I think I am in need. Could you come up to Maryborough to help me?? OOOHHH well I guess I can add you to RED and Shell as one of my girls (Long Distance of course)heart beating heart beating heart beating

Merriweather: I cant see where we have been naughty vegemites.. but mother nature sure must think we need a bit of shaking up...

I wonder what the bigger message is?? to be kinder to each other... to value what we have... to stop our egos???

Yes, really wondering...

I think it is more like stop screwing the earth you have been given. Destroying farming land, fouling waterways with oil spills, industrial waste, sending chemicals into the air, killing whales to the point of extinctiond and hundreds of other animals for that matter....... just my thoughs help

Martia: Thats great Shell,It must be hard not being able to treat the greasy heel because of the constant wet.
To keep the worst at bay get a tube of Betadene from the chemist and use like a shampoo.Iodene has a drying affect! thats all you can do until you can get out of the wet.

I've been doing that, rubbing it in and leaving it on, then keeping him in the feed yard for as long as practicable.

Of course once he steps outside, its 'splosh' into ankle deep water frustrated ... am gonna trim all his feathers away, and I was wondering Martia do you think if I put a baby barrier cream over the top of the iodine if that would help??? dunno

Appreciate your advice hug

For anyone who might need it, a very smart 14yo (of course) Jacob has made a page on FB as his way of doing something to help people in the floods. It is connecting people, and animals who are trying to find out about friends, relatives in the flooded areas

It is "missing persons/animals-Qld floods" on FB, so far it has 'found/reunited' 14 people. applause applause applause

Well done Jacob.

Heard him on the radio this morning, his parents found out what he had done from the TV!! What a great kid. teddybear

RIGHT GOLD COASTERS!

Here's one way you can help

Ok Gold Coasters!! Here's how you can help - Food, food, food. The Highway Church at Ormeau was told by the SES last night that they are relying on them to feed the volunteers! So we need food! Anything that travels well. Sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, muffins etc. Drop of to SB (Super Butcher) Ashmore, Oxenford, Yatala, Waterford and we will do the rest. Please spread the word

Anything small thing is a great thing in my books grin
