samlaunch: LOL. If you have to ask, you haven't got it. The answer to your question is, "Looks and/or money." Of course, either will do. If you have more of one and less of the other, that'll work. You have to ask yourself, "What kind of woman is this? Does she value looks over money or vice versa?" You can make a pretty good guess by the way a woman acts, as to what she wants. Now if the woman is in her 60s, she just doesn't give a damn about looks or money, she just wants a man. Can I get an "Amen?" lol. You know it's true.
You forgot to mention a brain. Whats money and looks without a brain lol.

yes..but the difference is you can touch and see money, and then of course, you can see looks/beauty as well. But you don't get to see "brain" because it is hidden inside our thick skull. So, given the fact that we human are such visual creature, the brain has almost nothing to do with it.
startingnew1972: Maybe it is a stupid question....But being out of the dating scene for over 20 years it seems hard to even get a woman to want to talk to you.I ask all the ladies who read this, if you can please tell me what you like to see in a guy to make you want to talk to him. What is that one thing that gives you that feeling of "wanting to know more of him",and what it takes to get you too respond ? Thanks
No, not a stupid question.
A bit of humor would be a good start. And be yourself, you'll be fine.
For me - it's 'his' mind that makes 'him' very attractive, then his heart and his personality (yes, in this order) - if it shines through, always gets response.
Welcome to CS, Starting.
P.S. Many people don't respond because they are not *real*, meaning they are not who they say they are - you'll learn in time...

and definitely not his race nationality eligion. viv lavida.
You DON'T suck! Give yourself a break! It's hard putting yourself out there and even harder knowing what to say in these profiles. How do you describe yourself and your wants/desires without sounding cheesy or cliche?
I'm new at this too, but I'm slowly developing a thicker skin and trying not to let my feelings get hurt when my pictures are rated poorly or I don't receive a response. I never know if I should answer the people that I'm not interested in because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so is it better not to answer or to answer and say thanks but no thanks?
A big turn off for me are the guys who are looking for 18-50 or something like that. I'm 45 and no way can I compete with an 18-year-old in looks/body. I can surpass them in most all other areas but not there. If someone is looking for an 18-year-old, they are NOT looking for me....lol.
What kind of people are you approaching....dream girls in their teens and 20's or realistic women more your age! I'm sure the dream girls are getting tons of mail, and you could just be getting lost in the shuffle or they're looking for young hot guys or old rich guys...lol. Not that I'm insulting the young women and saying that's what they're all looking for. Just trying to explain why they may not be responding. The real women your age, well, it could be that they are looking for someone who lives closer, does/does not smoke, has/does not have kids, has the same interests, etc.
I agree with the others that said the ones that are too mushy right off the bat are a big turn off. And definitely the ones who immediately ask you for your personal contact information. Been there, done that, and got burned! As someone else said, that is a big red flag because that is what the scammers do.
Yes, compliments are great, but keep them real and to a minimum - at least at first. I suggest saying something about liking their profile and picture, perhaps mention a common interest that you share, and tell them you would love a chance to get to know them a little better. Those are the ones I respond to.
Sorry for the long response, it's not like I'm an expert at this.
Good luck and God bless

venusenvy: I love a sense of humour especially a naughty one but he doesnt want to get thrown into that black pit of no return : the dreaded "friend zone"
