stringman: as far as i am concerned this guy is half baked. why do we celebrate christmas than. if he does not believe in jesus , he must believe in the devil.
Why? That doesnt make any sense whatsoever - it isnt an 'either or' situation - the devil is just as much a human invention as god is - they are simply the Christian equivalent of yin and yang or good and evil - just dressed in richer vestments so to speak

Christmas is was not initially a Christian Holiday. It was a pagan holiday. No a days it's used to drain your bank account.

Hi Trish, glad you're feeling better .
The bible must've told him so... if you're not with 'em you're against 'em I suppose.
Just think what it would be like if everyone took responsibility and.... praise or condemnation... for their own actions? There wouldn't be anyone left to blame but ourselves... wouldn't that be empowering?
trish123: There are too many unanswered questions in the whole story for my liking and for the liking of an increasing amount of other people too...
"How can Gospels which were not written until a hundred and fifty years after Christ is supposed to have died, and which do not rest on any trustworthy testimony, have the slightest value as evidence that he really lived? History must be founded upon genuine documents or on living proof. Were a man of to-day to attempt to write the life of a supposed character of a hundred and fifty years ago, without any historical documents upon which to base his narrative, his work would not be a history, it would be a romance. Not a single statement in it could be relied upon.
Christ is supposed to have been a Jew, and his disciples are said to have been Jewish fishermen. His language, and the language of his followers must, therefore, have been Aramaic--the popular language of Palestine in that age. But the Gospels are written in Greek--every one of them. Nor were they translated from some other language. Every leading Christian scholar since Erasmus, four hundred years ago, has maintained that they were originally written in Greek. This proves that they were not written by Christ's disciples, or by any of the early Christians. Foreign Gospels, written by unknown men, in a foreign tongue, several generations after the death of those who are supposed to have known the facts--such is the evidence relied upon to prove that Jesus lived."

And I find it offensive to imply Christians take some kind of "drugs", just b/c someone thinks what Christians believe is "unbelievable". Whatever "drugs" they take are the same as the general population - prescription drugs for high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disease, etc. As far as street drugs, most Christians don't use them, though there are certainly former addicts & current addicts trying to quit, among the Christian population.
jahzah: Maybe its time you had a rest from the forums for a bit if your getting frustrated, you can't force your beliefs on to people... It is up to the individual to decide what is right for them. And the jury is definitely still out on what is going on in this life so why do you believe so had on this religion that was shoved down your throat from when you a young boy?? But yeah if the forums is upsetting you take a week off
It was never shoved down my throat, and I don't try to shove it down anyone else's throat either.
jlw45: i believe in the second comming of christ...but, "no man knows the hour"...it does'nt have anything to do with 2012...
Didn't even remember about that Mayan calendar thing til someone brought it up in the threads here. I remember seeing some news show about it a few years ago.... (and haven't watched the news recently. Guessing it's currently in the news? )
