Is he on the brink? some reports say he's fled to his home town where he still has support, other reports say he's gone to Venezuela, his son is threatening rivers of blood if the protestors don't back down.

We have one slightly used Taoiseach that they can have for a crate of the black stuff after Friday! They'll find him a lot harder to shift than Quaddafi right enough! We had a hell of a job ourselves and he's still hanging around like a bad smell!conversing

It looks like he is finished. His government is resigning and he has lost several towns and sections of the military.

Libyan jets have landed in Malta in the last hour, according to my Maltese correspondent.

Yes, those are two military fighter jets with a total crew of four who have defected from their base near Benghazi. They were ordered to attack civilians and took the decision to refuse the order.

Seven French oil workers have also landed in Malta on two private helicopters.

I don't think he will stand down, His son said today that they are not the tunisian or egyptian army, The Libyan Army is one of the best in the world, Many more will die unfortunately
anyway Colonel Gadaffi is a decent man, didn't he supply the Provos with all the weapons they wanted for their 70's campaignireland He pretty much helped the nationalists of the North achieve the same rights as their unionist neighbours, long live Gadaffiireland and hes only gone to Venezuala to have a chat with his old buddy Hugo Chavez

howlingwolf: The 'story' about Gadaffi going to Venezuela has come from the British Foreign Secretary William Hague. Both Venezuela and Libya deny the rumour and there is no independent confirmation. It is possible this is just the British taking the opportunity to blacken Chavez by association with the tyrant Gadaffi. It is more likely Gadaffi will try to flee to Italy, Switzerland or Britain where his billions are banked by his real 'friends'.

Chavez and Gadaffi are of the same ilk so its possible they are friendly

Very Possibly. They've been trying to discredit him for years.

scon1916: Chavez is a hero in Venezuela, just ask the locals. He just doesn't bow to the will of America. He doesn't do their bidding.
See through the propaganda!

Precisely. Chavez has done great work in Venezuela and is a true democrat. Unfortunately the yanks only like 'Democracy' when their buddies benefit. They also don't like a socialist country having so much oil. Chavez is no tyrant.

howlingwolf: Ghaddafi is shooting and bombing his own people because they demand freedom. He is a despotic, autocratic dictator who took control of Libya by means of a coup. Does that not make him a tyrant?

Tyrant;"any person in a position of authority who exercises power oppressively or despotically."

Just finished watching Daffy rant and rave for over an hour on Libyan TV. He really is quite delusional. Sheltered by a wall at the TV station he chastised the Libyan people for not supporting him; him a great hero! He said the protestors were just youths on drugs that wanted and Islamic state! (Bit of a contradiction there)He called for death to all Libyans who in any way oppose him. He called for gangs to go out and kill those protesting: "We will cleanse Libya house by house".

He said he intends to fight to the death and those who will facilitate that for him are close at hand.
