RDM59: It's dark, drab and door colours for me. Don't do yellows, reds, pinks, oranges etc. Predominantly it's dark blue, sometime with the odd light blue or white shirt in the summer time. And those days are rare ....

So you're a risk taker ? grin

vinny1967: Hi JAC and EW

This thread is very revealing and its not something I have thought about really. I tend to wear what I like. My fave colours to wear are white, black, navy, all shades of blue and pink . Are they a good match for fairly rugged but sallow skin and if not what would be. I tan easily.

Yeah, those colours are good for you, but don't forget your hair and eye colour. Browns will bring attention to your eyes (brown eyes are lush) and greens, particularly mossy greens (not yellow greens) will probably suit you as well. Your hair colour means you may suit greys as well, especially dark, metalic greys. Maybe subtle tonic silks that are blue/grey, or pink/grey would make nice shirts for you.

Its difficult to say over t'internet, but if your description of your skin tone, sallow, is a yellow toned brown, avoid yellows, oranges and bright reds like the plague.

As an after thought, go for grey blues, rather than ones with any other tints in them.

This is all assuming that you see different tints in colours. laugh

EagleWoman: Yellow green and orange that pulls towards the yellow could also look good ... may be more when you're tanned

Ha! I didn't read this before I wrote mine!

See? Everyone sees colours differently and Vinny is as confused as hell.

Those colours are exactly right for you. Perfect.

Go hunt down some Barber stuff in the sales, but you'll hve to send the trews to me first, as they come unhemmed.

I wrote a post earlier about colours having either a warm or cold tone and being more of a dtermining factor than colour for matching the skin tone.

I had a friend who was a beauty consultant and used fabrics of evry colour in both tones to wrap around clients necks to determine whether she should wear warn or cold tones make up and clothes.

I was amazed to discover that colt tones made my skin and eyes glow whereas warm tones didn't. I expected the opposite because I have olive skin!!! For intence a cold pink looks amazing but a warm pink doesn't stand out. Same with blues and oranges and reds etc.

Same as there are different types of whites some warm some cold that would suit different skin tones. The most difficult whaite to wear is brilliant white and the most difficult is electric blue. Both look electrifying on the right skin tone ...

Once a person know if they match warm tones or cold tones it means they can diversify more in their choice of colours

I do know you are a tailor and take on board your experience with fabrics ....

The tone thing works for me as well because I am a painter and often paintings gel together not because of colours but because of tones ...

mnowsa: so i guess no woman is gonna like me

We all like you, mnowsa, but how's any woman gonna see what you look like if you don't show yourself?

I'm sure you've had a photo of your face on here before, so what's the problem?

How about going and getting a photo done professionally? Fuzzy photos and distance photos are all very well if you're not looking, but not much cop if you are.
