I am open to moving to the mainland if nessacary. I have worked in childcare, aged care, residential community mental health, therapuetic massage, clerial, medical reception, good communication skills, I have done heaps of different types of employment over the last 30 odd years. I am fit, able bodied, adaptable, open and willing to learn new tasks. What may I be missing in successfully getting the job?

Not sure about tassie, but as far as I know, everywhere else has a high staff shortage in aged care, and quite a shortage in childcare. Do you have your certificates? that is the only thing that could possibly be holding you back succeeding in a job. A lot of companies/organisations require that you have your CertIII

You need to reside where you go for the job so you can get straight to work.
There's a bit of a ression happening ATM with the % rates, bills, petroletc all rising.
The job adds are down and retail spending is down.

I love strahan, Queenstown is quite remote from everywhere, love the cog railway and Gordon River cruise.
The quad bike tours of the Henty Dunes are good fun too.
If you can, try to take a drive up to Derwent Bridge and check out the Wall in The Woods, spectacular.

ps: you can easily buy a house on the West coast, one of the most affordable regions in Australia, rains 300 days year, don't let your kids play in the River in Queenstown though as there's lots of pollution in it.

Ae, I have checked out the rentals and there are fully furn 2 or 3 bdrm houses for $150. If I had $60,000 I could buy a house grin It appears vveerryy laid back, but that would be a pleasent change from listening to the traffic on Hobart Rd. Looks like it could snow there....

Yea, amazing isnt it. But if Queenstown rains as much as normal says then the weather wouldnt be part of the attraction. Its an old mining town. The area surrounding Queenstown was stripped of its trees, then the topsoil washed away leaving a barren rocky moon like surface.

There is nothing there, you would get so bored.
I love Strahan and would live there tomorrow except that my kids are here in Wonthaggi.
Without a car, I'm guessing the transport links to Hobart would be few and far between. ie: major hospitals would be out of the question other than an airlift via chopper.
I've got a lot of competition from your side of Bass Strait with ebay sellers, have you ever considered online selling?
Some of the best sellers take a good income and it is all home based.

Kia ora normal, there is a new hospital in Queenstown, and, yes I would definately need a wheels. I have spoken to others here and they agree with you that Queenstown is wet and unatractive, but as I need work, so I hope my application will be impressive enough to get an interview. There is no lifestyle while being on the benefit, and, hey it shouldnt be. I am not computer savvy so how does one become a ebay seller. wave

Ae, and cheers, I have to put myself out there. If there is no response, well, hey I gave it a try. Looking for work as a 'mature woman' is really hard. I am a young person in soul and spirit, however, my age is 54. I love my age, I have had so many experiences I am still experiencing and embracing life and I believe thats because I am open, honest, and a bit of a free spirit. Many thanx for the goodluck, cheers teddybear

I would have put you on but you're 2 years outside my seeking criteria.
