Who do you think takes it the hardest?
Or how different do we take a break up from males to females.

Personally - I feel that men take break up the hardest, not that women do not, just that men are wired so different when it comes to emotions. When a man gives his all - he is giving of what is his heart and mind to that person, when that is broken - he is terrified to open again.
A woman on the other hand - lives her everyday life nurturing and providing and caring for her mate and children. (please don't get me wrong here - we know men do this as well) but it is wired in a woman do this. It's NATURAL!! Therefore a break up will cause emotional pain but because she has dealt with it at some point or another throughout her life - she can manage to package it and put it away.

A man has a very hard time with this.......his love is GRAND - it's almost like he sees it unconciously as a GIFT to that SPECIAL woman...and when she hurts him - he has a real hard time offering it again. Not out of NOT WANTINg but out of NOT BEING ABLE to find it within himself to do it.
Women - are much more resilient to it......

Ok I may be shot down for this but that is my opinion and I"M STICKING TO IT!! SO THERE!!!!!!tongue head banger

What ya think???professor dunno

For me, it would have to be how it was how the break up was done?

I dont think you can generalise. People are different and handle break ups differently, men and women

I disagree. I'm not a 'Mum'. I've found both of my break ups extremely emotionally hard. I don't think either of my partners have found it as hard as I have.

I think it has more to do with who made the decision to break up.

The one who gets caught and put away for 30 years.

I believe it will depend on the individual and not the gender.
One may be stronger emotionally than the other...

I know as a mother it sometimes can help because you HAVE to carry on, put on brave face so to speak. So i dont think that can be used as something as a tool for how emotional you are.

VERY good point.....I guess it would depend on the "love" instilled in the relationship as well right? Maybe the man thought the woman loved him but really didnt or visa versa....and then who takes the steps to begin the break up process.......Yes you are correct. But not being a MUM still makes you a woman and with that - you are naturally wired to nurture..

thumbs up This is true, you just don't have a choice, you cant wallow in self pity, you just have to get on with it. It helps, and time passes while you are concentrating on your kids and then eventually you realise that you have coped.

Sadly enough my beautiful lady, it doesn't always happen that way!!
Not everyone has the strength to move forward and let things be.
Male and female alike, but in the same token, men and women do take things differently.

When I left my ex husband - we both agreed it was time to move on, I did just that.....but he on the other hand - took him 7 years to call his "girlfriend" his girlfriend...eventhough she had been with him soon after the break up!!!
That didnt mean he wanted me back, that just meant it took him 7 years to deal with it.....no a good thing or a bad thing - its just the way it is.....

Perhaps, in a way, women do not punish themselves so much during the break-up. But i'd say they're far more likely to punish all men, everywhere, for a past break-up. Men let these things go much easier, whereas a Woman never forgets.
