I have been surprised at the wording on a high number of profiles that they "love walks on the beach".....This wording even seems stranger when the person that is the subject of the profile lives hundreds or even thousands of miles from the nearest beach.Any thoughts on this phenomenon?

Well, it does sound better than, "I love long, romantic walks...across hot coals."
Its a metaphor for some, for example, even though I live in Montana 500 miles from the beach I would like to walk along it with Kaybee. Hi Kaybee, sorry I forgot to ask before posting the example. Down in Utah tonight. Maybe on the coast before the week is out...

Most people who don't live by the ocean see it as something magical and romantic. Like on a warm evening the sun is just going down, the waves sliding up...almost but not quite to your bare feet as you walk arm in arm with a new love, smelling the salty air, feeling the damp sand between your toes, hearing the ocean as the waves roll in and out...well it's magic to me, I live four hours from the ocean
