Without knowing the details, I can only evaluate by what I see.
Your first post suggests that you're being mucked around to the point where somebody else is in control and you are the recipient. That doesn't sound very equal to me.
You second post suggests that if the person makes up their mind positively, it won't be long before they intrude on the last chance saloon scenario again. Trust has already been eroded, (or possibly was never there for at least one person), if you have got to this point.
Being understanding and generous is a good thing, but only if it works both ways. Otherwise, its simply draining.
Does that make any sense applied to your situation?
