In response to: I have thought about this subject for a long time and think it's time to ask that question.
I never thought I would join a online dating site and never believed that It was possible to meet a partner on one of these sites but about four months ago my friend recomended a dating site to me so I thought well why not I am single so what have I got to lose!
I have been on dating sites for four months and have chatted to a fair few women since I started online dating but I do wonder Is It natural to meet someone this way?
I know these sites are good to chat and maybe make friends online but can we really find love on these sites?
Do you have any stories you want to share about yourselfs or people you know who have met and fallen in love with someone from a online dating site?
We may meet our soul mate in the strangest place hehehe.. For some people, dating sites might work and for some others it don't..
ScarlettLipstick: to be honest, this site works for me.. I met my romeo in my 2nd week here.. and everything is perfect so far.. Good luck Houston
Congrats, I hope it continues to be perfect for you :) Yes, meeting from online does work...I know of many who have met, fell in love, married, and had children...all from starting with a few words across the computer screen one day/night. As for me personally, I almost married a guy I met from online...no we are not together anymore but the breakup had NOTHING to do with 'meeting online'.

MistyGurl: oh, and as for your opening question 'Are online dating sites really the right way to find love?'...
is there ever really a right way, or a wrong way? Love will find you, wherever you happen to be when the both of you cross paths in life :)
The things I like about online dating sites is that we all have a profile stating what we are looking for in a partner, age wise, personality wise, looks wise, hobbies wise, lifestyle wise and all other things relevant the disadvantage is that it takes such a long time to get to know someone this wayand you never really know someone until you meet them in person
Yes, it can work. It seems the modern way to meet someone in a lot of respects, for many obvious reasons.
I met my fella here on CS and we are now engaged, he has moved in with me and we are buying a place together next year. He is 54 and I am 50 later this year, so you are never too old either.
You have to have your wits about you as there are some less than genuine people out there but there are also some ordinary, honest folks too. Be picky, there is no guarantee just an opportunity to sift the wheat from the chaff.

But thats the thing (maybe a disadvantage?) about online dating - you can have the most thought out/well written profile in the world, with all your wants, interests etc...but if the guy *speaking as a woman on a site* doesnt bother to read it, but he fakes his interest instead - your profile means nothing. MANY times Ive had men contact me, theyre apparently 'interested', but as it turns out, they just happened to randomly click on my picture/profile, as I was online at the same time as them, on here. Its much easier for a guy...ok a person.. *again, speaking as a woman on a site*, to fake interest online, than it is for them to try to fake it, in person.
Thats my biggest frustration I guess...the men who fake their interest in you when they contact you...you just happen to be 'there' at the time. (And no, I am in no way saying that ALL men do this...Im just speaking as a woman on a site, as to what *some* men do...repeatedly.)

Yes and you also have to watch out for the scammers too so I bet it is a bit frustrating sometimes
MistyGurl: not a problem...you seem like a genuine guy from the little Ive 'seen' (and cute too...hehe)...Im sure you'll be 'snapped up' in no time..hehe...
