Its as good a way of meeting people as any other way. But I wouldn't be focussed so much on meeting "Mr Right". I think of it as a social thing, a way of corresponding and meeting all kinds of different people. And if love comes along, great, but I think focussing on that is setting yourself up for a big disappointment.
To me, its the fun of the forums and sometimes meeting people in real life, and I have met some very nice people.

Ok.As a cynic of online dating I will tell you my negative thoughts on it. I have wasted too much time chatting and getting to know only for something to go wrong to bother with it again- real life is much less time consuming and out socially deductions are often instantanious.
On the positive side online is great for when your on a break from relationships or are not looking for anything serious,or your life dictates that your social life limits your options too much.
I also found it a great release and confidence builder after coming out of a long marriage and I had no idea who or what I could reasonably attract,or who or what I was looking for.
I would never judge people who use online dating sites to find a partner because I felt that others judged me in my real life when I told them that I did.
I think that it is now an excepted part of todays world and nothing to be ashamed off,as it used to be viewed.

It depends if you;re a guy in a big city where there are hundreds of thousands of available women and there is not something really exotic in taste that you want- it might be a red flag that you are incapable of meeting someone.
ON the other hand if you have special needs or wants or live in a smaller area - it might be the only way to find someone.

I believe I will meet someone online. My sis is divorced, has been for 3 years, she shuns online dating and goes to bars. She's had one relationship since her divorce and she's more attractive than me.
I've had two relationships via cs in the space of 1.5 years. I don't go to bars and I've made a number of friends via cs.
Keep the faith. I find that the men that frequent bars are more interested in alcohol or chasing young skirt. it's difficult to hold a conversation in a bar.
