After 2 weeks in a hospital, Dr. Jack Kovorkian dies at the age of 83 due to heart and kidney failure. Love him or hate him, I personally feel he helped a lot of people stop their suffering.

Not loving nor hating him but I do think he did help people.

He did stop the suffering and the expenses of people living a terrible last time in their lifes.
No one deserves a "finale" like that.

We should all have the right to die the way we choose.

Kovorkian was a brave man and I hope he had a peaceful death.

RIP Jack. teddybear

My B/F were discussing this very thing during lunch today.

I was saying that he gor a bad rap for helping people who were suffering.

If was suffering I'd want to end my suffering.I watch my mother lay on her hospital on life support but according to her doctor she was alreadly dead.

I think the reason that some people are kept alive so the medical field can milk the insurance companies.

Well we seem to treat animals better. When they are sick, we put them out of their misery but putting them to sleep. I think if someone is of sound mind and they want to die that way, they should be able to.

I agree however, not too many of them.

Oh, one of the major criticisms of him was that many of those he assisted were not terminal and some had not even seeked alternative remedies.

There are some doctors who are ahead of their time pioneering treatments who lose their licenses because the medical system is so close minded. I know of a couple here and in the UK. Or in the case of JK goes to jail cause some people think it's morally wrong.

I agree however, the medical oath is to help people live, not go on national TV and inject the patient himself and then, in front of the camera, dare the government to do something about it.

They certainly did, charged him with murder and he got 10 to 2 years.

Well I guess he did himself in going on 60 min. as before that no one had any concrete proof what he was doing. But I guess he risked it on TV cause he believed what he was doing was right, to end the suffering of others who chose it.

Nah, he went on tv because he miscalculated and felt complacent about social acceptance of what he was doing. He should have stuck with the machines and gone heavy on the lobbying.

An aside, he does look like one scary MF to have by your bedside when you check out.

I agree with OP for the hypocratic oath is open to interpertation & it's just a formality. I respect the fact he stood up even under duress and had the balls to stand by his conviction of not allowing loved ones to suffer as I'm sure most of us have experienced and my hat's off to him. R.I.P. JMHO.tip hat handshake
