gsmonks: I have zero tolerance for controlling people, no matter who they are. My first response is "please don't do that", the next is "don't do that", and the last is, "there's the door".
You get controlling people in work situations, too- usually people who need to be taught a lesson that such behaviour isn't acceptable.
Example- as a musician, you get people who think that because they've hired you, they can talk to you any way they like, and tell you to do whatever they want. The "clap their hands and expect people to obey", or the constant "yelling into your face" thing. The latter are unbelievable. If I worked a regular job where someone tried that, I'd videotape the s.o.b. and head straight over to Labour Relations.
In those situations when I'm playing a gig, I just smile blandly, direct the guys to pack up their gear, and we leave.
Kind of how my marriage ended . . .
Sorry to hear that...
I have a friend that's in a marriage like that. But, she's comfortable with it. She goes nowhere unless he is with her, cooks when he says to, pretty much like a robot. I have asked her what it is about him that keeps her there but her response is "I love him"
I hope to one day find a man that is strong enough to keep me grounded (not controlled) yet understand me as a woman.

Uniquemom61: I am curious to see where you draw the line with controlling men and women. Do you prefer a man who tells you where you can go and what friends you can have....and the same with men, how do you feel about a woman that controls your every move?
OH YEA, let me think, controlled, told what to do and when.....HELL NO,

I would tell people about a guy like that and have him put away. Men like that have little willies and ED. That's why they don't let women look at other men or leave their sight.
curly28: Totally not acceptable you are your own person no one can ever own you.
Yep. Controlling people need to be removed from society. I don't care where they go. They ruin everything for good innocent people because they're wack jobs.
