how bad /or deep is the depression>??? sometimes I just disconnect from everyone and everything!! but sometimes you might need to talk with a very trusted soul who wont throw your emotions back at you later!!! be good to yourself and dont take it out on your body,,,,,,these are my guidelines anyway for myself. hope it helps. ;-}
Find a walking park. Start walking around it and you will find that it tends to clear up the depression to a good degree. That was my prescription from Dr.s, and it worked better then some of the meds. Also surround yourself with people you care about and that care for you. Good luck. Kat
I've got the people part. Some of my co-workers are good to talk with. And I have a few times. I 've helped them a little too. The depression stems from my living environment. I moved to Pa. to help my elderly parents. VERY RURAL area. No single people! I'm 41. This ain't good!
Rob65...you need to see a doctor and discuss this with him...yes some people have things in their life that depresses them now and then...but alot of times its a "chemical imbalance" which can be corrected with the use of medication...
Please don't leave it until its too late to find answers....
Thanks Wikked for your advice. My problem just comes from a life situation that I can't control. I moved here to help my parents, and the area just isn't conducive to a single 41 year old. It isn't a major problem but it is something that started to bother me. I just need to keep my eyes open more. I'll meet someone here eventually. It's only been a recent thing.
Alcohol is a depressant, do not drink! Get yourself a pet. Something nice like a puppy or kitten. Why do you have to take care of your parents? There are programs for respite care.
Hi Rob, why are you feeling so down? Whatever has happened in your life, you have to try and stay positive. Maybe you should try exercising and eating healthy food, that usually makes me feel good. Don't just sit there feeling sorry for yourself and give up. Get out there, talk to a girl, you never know where that will lead. Amy
Hi Rob...if its just a temporary thing...it will pass...so bear with it...use the helpful advice that the others have posted on here...if you think this may turn into a long term thing then use whatever help you can get in the interim....
everyone suffer"s from some sort of depression, some more than other"s, we all feel low from time to time, life is not a bed of rose"s, it was never meant to be easy, go see you doctor only if this is a long term situation, you did say last couple of week"s, if it happen"s regular, see the doc, try something new, join a local group in whatever may interest you
Dealing With Depression is something that I have had to do this past month or so. You just hsve to take an inventory of what there is to be greatful for, no matter what it is. I'm not as bad off as it would seem to me when I count my blessings
Rob65 we all go through periods of depression. It's when they go on longer than usual and seem to deepen, where the concern comes in. It's like you feel a heavy cloud over you. If that cloud is not lifted, there may be future problems.
As Wikked said it could be a chemical imbalance. If it goes beyond the "feeling blue", then you should seek a Dr.'s opinion. Everyone is different so their ability and ways of dealing with depression will be individual.
Part of depression is recognizing it as in anything in life. I go through periods where I am having a "pity party" for myself, and feel extremely down when things are bad. The suggestions that you talk to friends and family to get you through are good. The one person I know I can talk to is God. Not everyone believes as I do, but the power of prayer, for me at least, has gotten me through some very rough times.
I hope your situation improves and just remember, we are all here...you'll find some wonderful friends here.
Also, you're a good man for taking care of your parents.
I have a long history of depression and am on meds that help alot. Meds aren't everything though...everyone here has given you great advice. I find that isolating myself is the worst thing I can do. I found these forums a few days ago and everyone here has really been great and have made me smile and laugh more than I have in awhile.
Just try to stay busy, do something you love, make time for yourself and keep a positive attitude. Best of luck to you!
