My friend's sister rescued a dog from the local shelter.

Feeling that the dog was fortunate to have been saved she named it Lucky.

(yes you do know where this is going)

Some time passed and she gave the dog to my freind.

Some time after that the dog was hit by a car and had one hind leg amputated.

Some more time passed and as the dog aged he went blind.

In summation...

My friend had a three legged blind dog named Lucky.

This is a true story.

My question to you is...

Do you believe me?

*additional discussion is always welcome*

On the radio recently...they had a contest...they gave you 3 news stories and asked you to pick the "real one" I picked the right one...because it's the one where I thought...who the hell would make that up.

So..I for one believe you...because why in the hell would you make something like that up? Not that it's bad...I just...don't think you would.

Since you have not lied to me yet at least not to my knowledge. So with that said, I believe you.

We all have heard sad stories about pets and lucky is a common name.
So yes I believe you. But as Lion says you can be a kidder, so there is probably more to your question which will make us think. Never a bad thing.

Thank you for the replies so far.

The story is in fact true, although I am certain some will think it a lie no matter how much I claim it to be true.

I find it an interesting position to be in.

Anyone one I share this story with...is faced with a choice to decide if I have lied to them or not. That choice will become there reality, unless I counter it with proof.

In the absence of proof, they build their own reality,

but I have a choice when and who to share the story with.

Given that I belive many will not believe the story,

and given my ability to choose wether or not too share it,

am I also in some way contributing to creating a false reality for them?

quantum physics.

If you toss a coin, the coin is in a state of both heads and tails until you actually observe it. However, the very act of observing, causes it to be suddenly in a definite state.

So...ummm...yeah. you are contributing to my having a false reality!

The story is true, there is no attempt to mislead here.

I am merely looking at the situation it creates for the people on both sides of the story.

IE...If I was to tell the story to someone I had just met versus someone I have known for a while.

This has my curiousity because it seems relative to other more serious things that often may be difficult or impossible to resolve with proof.

If a stranger tells me a story, I give them the benefit of the doubt that they believe it's true. If they are lying on purpose that's their problem.

However, just because I believe that they believe it's true doesn't necessarily mean that I'm going to believe it's true.

In the case, of the story you told in the OP. If I were to repeat that story to someone else I would begin the story with "Ocee told me that,…"

In other words, I'm already starting off admitting that, for me, the story is hearsay.

There is a fair bit of preconditioning in how I told the story.

I have shared this story in the past, and watched my friend share it.

Depending on how, where, and to whom it is told, it has been met with very mixed reactions.

I actually meant to say that it's NOT a hard story to believe. That was a typo.

I had never thought of it as we create liars, I had always taken someone at their word (ok sometimes with a pinch of salt) until they are proven a liar, I do hope to see honesty in people. Friendships are baised on honesty.
