Don't worry, it happens to all of us!

I have made my profile practically non exsistent and switch off some times to avoid that sort of thing, but some still try.

To be honest I don't think they read profiles, just target as many as possible and see if they get any replies.

take care .......wave devil

Yours come from Nigeria...

For the guys, it comes from Russia.

Are you talking of your profile here?

Don't take it personal. It seems that when you look for something local, it is not so easy. It seems that there are those from far away who recognize something "attractive" and are able to come out and write and yet there are those who live next door or in a neighbouring country who notice nothing...

So be it. You can either block them, respond to them or be patient in your expectations here...

Yes, profile here. I've gotten 2 within 24 hours. It's just aggravating and sometimes makes me unsure when someone honest comes along.

Thanks for the advice.

There are so many scammers form Nigeria and New York and Russia and many others. They are well organized and do much damage to mostly women here. They are also dangerous. Spam, or delete them.
And "no", you are perfectly wonderful, and look good, and are very sweet.. Just be careful

I said 2 in the past 24 hours....i've had many more. One actually sent voided money orders for large amounts of money. I'm not and idiot, so therefore called the money order company. I'm not paranoid either, but when a person's profile is good english and when they email you they can hardly put 2 english words together....there is a problem. When they want to give you a job overseas or is trying to get money from you.........THIS is a scam.

I'm just getting tired of 4 out of 5 emails being these low life people!

Maybe I am out of the loop I guess. I had not heard of Nigeria hitting up America for money on an individual basis.

Some places I know have people who are looking for their ticket out of their own country, but unsure of that here.

If someone smells like a scammer here, report them and I am sure you will not have to hear from them further.

These "Nigerian a**hole" (apt name for them) aren't just lone individuals trying to play on your affections to get you to pay for a plane ticket to the States; it's a well-organized operation.

From Snopes.com, about Nigerian (and similar) scams:

"The Nigerian scam is hugely successful. According to a 1997 newspaper article:

"We have confirmed losses just in the United States of over $100 million in the last 15 months," said Special Agent James Caldwell, of the Secret Service financial crimes division. "And that's just the ones we know of. We figure a lot of people don't report them."

Do a google search. There is a lot of information out there. They need to be stopped and we can do our part by reporting them everytime they contact us via email and IM. People do fall victim to such scams, because they're easily sucked in by the promise of an eventual fortune, and unfortunately, they're either too stupid to realize it's a scam, or they're blinded by greed.
