Merriweather: Do you need another head rub...

On a serious note... I had a Hydrosmart installed years ago... It changes the chemical composition of the water .. for a start, I could not handle the smell of chlorine that came out in the shower and the inside taps, so that I never smell anymore, and secondly, I did not want my electrical appliances being ruined by hard water... I have a reverse osmosis system, but its installed in the laundry, because I did not want a third tap in the kitchen. Yes, its nice water to drink... and the amount of waste water is very small... less that a toilet flush... but there are filters and membrane to change.. so its not a cheap thing to use. On the other hand.. the Hydrosmart sits outside on the wall next to the hot water tank, and is connected after the tank. I have never had to touch it or have anything done to it since Ihad it installed.

that's cool thumbs up but i still have headache blues can i have nuther rub pls grin

Hi Merriweather,

If it's the same unit, it's great to hear from someone who has used it and can vouch for doing what it says it should do. Thanks. I can look into it seriously for when I am in a position to act on it. At least I can check on whether a similar system exists here.

venere08: I wonder if anyone here has heard of, or better still, used this system of removing harsh minerals and chemicals from your water supply.

What are your thoughts and if you have used it, would you recommend it or maybe another brand/type?

I am considering installing it o/s to address the high calcium content in the water used. It creates havoc in the pipes.

Much appreciated. Thanks.

where i live the fresh water is piped from perth a total of 660ks the longest water pipeline in the world, its hot here the water is pretty good considering i think you have just gotta toughen up princess but if calcium build up is a drama just throw in a filter on the outlet side of your water meter.

hmmm...please re-read my post about playing havoc with the pipes. I wasn't referring to mine, but the house pipes.laugh ...I'm purdy tough and I do need some extra calcium, but I'm afraid the pipes and my new front loader being delivered next week, won't take kindly to the 'calcaro' as the locals call the calcium build up.

Thanks for taking the time to comment though.handshake
