I know that there are books out there, telling how to write grants that are accepted. Try looking for books at the library, or if you know of anyone who's written, you can get advice from them, too.

I have not heard of the grants you are talking of. Go and see your senator of congressman and ask them about grants. If that is not possiable then write them. Also if you would like to help volunteer for some programs in your area. I am sure they would love an extra set of hands. And by being there you will learn from them. It will not be easy and if you are as poor as me it will not be done over night. It will be a process. When ever I have wanted to do something in life I did not know how to do I would find someone who was doing it and latch onto them and learn. If this is your dream I do think that the first step would be to volunteer somewhere. Best of luck to you.

I think you would be better off volunteering your time with an existing homeless program. That would give you experience in this genre.
I wanted to volunteer to help abused children and learned that I had to have a college degree to do it.
There is a program called Big Sisters/Big Brothers where you can become a mentor to a child in the program. My daughter who is 46 years old is a mentor to an 8 year old girl but they also have teenagers in the program. They're all over the country so you might want to check that out.

Check with the organization called 'Save The Children' too. Some of the programs / projects may interest you and you could offer your assistance / help.

thanks for everyones advice but im gonna follow my heart and try to open my own program see yall dont no i serve a mighty god who said he would give me my hearts desires ,and i wanna run my own progam to put my heart in it and it also open up jobs for the community that i start up in so i think i can do it.....but thanks anyway.

Candaice, I applaud and encourage you to press on. No amount of qualifications and government official's stamps can replace real life experience, especially in the kind of service you are seeking to offer. Believe me, I have all of the above and I know where my real expertise comes from ...real life ...my own life.
Here is a useful thing to keep in your heart behind your every intention ...help is only useful when it brings about changes that really empower those who seek your help. They need to become their own power leaving you, the helper, fully available to offer help to the next in need. I am sure you already know what I mean.
I would also suggest a mentor - someone who has already successfully done what you are seeking to do. They may be able to provide some model, structure and direction, thereby maximising your outcome for your effort.

Thanks ladies encouragement is all i need.....and i intend for the help and programs i wanna offer to enpower some if not all of the women that seek my help because a person who done walked in a person shoes or been threw it is the best teacher....believe me i can teach about anything i was told or taught but real life exsprience is the best teacher......and imma keep on pressing.i wish there were programs out like this when i ws growing up but there werent people didnt seem to really care nor did they want to assist teens just maybe my life would have been a lil better..
