chris27292729: Meaning, your predecessors, growling and living in caves, during the pre+Hellenistic periods.- So go and study your predecessors,of those periods, and tell us,what enlightment you derived from them.

You're not getting this are you?

Ok, I'll tell you. Read CAREFULLY

I have a rare French surname that can be traced back to the 14th century. Records prior to that were destroyed during the Black Death.

Apparently, we once lived in the region of Marseilles~you know that one Chris? The old Greek colony and later, an important Roman centre. We migrated north to the province of Lorraine and settled in that region until fleeing the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre. The family moved to an isolated island located in the Channel Group known as Alderney. After the Franco-Prussian War, Alderney suffered from a lack of food and employment, so my Great-Grandfather took a ship to New Zealand where he married and later migrated to Australia.

All of this is irrelevant, as ethnicity is only one factor. You overlook the cultural heritage which we both share if you think about it. The history of Greece & Rome is part of the history of Europe and doesn't exist in isolation.

You ain't getting it, ain't you????? The History of Greece existed in isolation within the geographical borders of the pre+Hellenic periods, till spread by Alexander and adopted by Romans.- Still mentain my stance, when we were building, what we builded during pre+Hellenistic periods, many Europeans at the time, were growling and living in caves, not excluding your ancestors.-And our cultural heritage was given to you on a plate, for further development.-Is there any other culture, prior to Greek and the Roman to have influence Europe,as those 2 have done???I'll agree History doesn't exist in isolation,so be thankfull having discovered us.-comfort

Chris, Greek colonisation of the Mediterranean (including Marseilles) pre-dates the Classical period and the Hellenistic period.

You really should research before you post. Anyway, it's like talking to a block of pine, so I'm done with this.

Hoorey, bravo, don't remember the thread i mentioned about Marseilles beeing a colony of Greece, but you prove my point,we did made the Europeans, with our culture,to stop growling and living in caves, including your ancestors. Is YOU, don't want to accept,That with our culture and civilization, made your ancestors, think and behave like humans beings and not like growling cavemen.-If you are a Historian produce evidence of any European writing, apart from pre-Romans,during the Hellenistic period.

BTW you use your glorious history heritage only like parasites, turning Greece into a purely touristic country. I can't even imagine what some other nation would do if had such a heritage. Instead you degraded to what you are now... Can you tell me for instance at least one world-wide known scholar, philosopher, statesman, who was born in the land of Socrates, Plato, Pericles, Aristotle?

One more thing: What you actually inherited from your glorious ancestors is arrogance. They used to call all others Barbarians although they stole from other cultures whatever that could, like the mythology of Thracians calling it Greek mythology. Now you call others cavemen but steal and beg for their dollars and euros laugh

And since I know you will attack Bulgaria instead of answer my comments, here is a link about Varna necropolis and a quote: "Varna Chalcolithic necropolis are assumed to be the “oldest gold of mankind” according to their total volume and quantity".

Stop measuring how old and glorious you are, but start working for the present-day...

Whether you like it or not Europeans adopted the Greco-Roman civilizations.-Even the Bulgarians, when arriving from Mongolia, and settled on 5th century AC,adopted the Greco-Roman one.-Have you got any doubt???
