galrads: Why would anyone want to be the President of the USA, the most powerful country in the world, knowing he could be prosecuted for protecting his country? And that my friends is what G.W. Bush was doing.

As most Americans accept and believe this too, why would we sit back and let some BS self-appointed group charge him with a crime that is only a crime in their minds?

Stupid waste of time when you think about it, isn't it.

First of all America is not the most powerfull country in the world!! The country that owns the USA right now is...and That is China! So you need to wake up to that!

And Iraq and Afghanistan were no threat to the USA so he was not protecting anything...he was the aggressor.

And I don't think Amnesty is a stupid self appointed group...they have huge respect all over the world from governments and millions of members.

The facts are that if a leader of dictatorship used that tactics G.E Bush did the world would be disgusted. One of the big crimes Gadaffi is wanted for is inprisoning people without trial and torturing them! G.W Bush has done the exact same thing! Gadafi would have said he was protecting his country too. You can't have international laws and then decide they don't apply to you when it suits.

You need to grow up!roll eyes

Who is G.E. Bush?
G.W. Bush kept us safe. He did his job and Americans are grateful.
Your comparing G.W. Bush to Gadaffi is very immature.
you need to get an education and grow up IMO.

He GWB violated UN Human Rights Law,which USA is signatory. He made a duck in Switzerland back in Feb. upon learning that Amensty applied to Swiss authorities asking for his arrest. Torture is a Human Rights violation,it doesn't matter if GWB only ordered unauthorized interrogation on only 3 known cases, and Gadaffi to 1000 unauthorized ones, both are guilty of breaking the Law.wine

Patriotism is one thing but methinks you are waving a flag now at half mast. Your own economic problems leave a lot to be desired, as does the unrest sweeping your country at the moment.

All countries need to support each other and stand shoulder to shoulder to make this world a better place to live in,but we all know that isn't going to happen don't we.sigh

Support each other yes, to some degree. stand shoulder to shoulder is where you EU folks need to take responsibility for your own actions and not expect the USA is going to be there for you all the time.

Yes we have our own faults for sure; we are a very young growing nation. We need to bring our jobs back from overseas, produce more at home and buy more home made items and sell more USA products abroad. Forget NAFTA and forget favored nation bs.

Oh, thanks for the criticism. I am here in the forums for the amusement aspect but I didn't expect that from you. All's well here though.

It was not meant personally ,just as a general observation. Being proud of one's roots goes without saying in my book. As for the amusement aspect some threads are just not that funny, and slagging other people's country's is another no no .

We are all clinging to rafts at the moment, though some need a lifebouy occasionally, and I am against war in general for whatever reason. Seen too much heartache in the past.hug

What you say about George Bush might be true, but there better ways that AI could direct it's efforts. GB is not doing any ongoing harm ans has no power to do so

not saying that excuses him IF the story is true (I seldom believe the press) just that there are much more brutal and nasty targets out there who really need to be arrested....so this all makes AI look like a bunch of grandstanding chickens to me
chicken chicken chicken chicken

and I agree with galrads, what the US really needs to do is curb foreign aid, raise tariffs on imports from countries who will not cooperate on the trade imbalance and use the savings to promote a resurgence om US manufacturing of hard goods

chris27292729: Your posts 254+255,.- They are after the one who gave the order for "waterboarding",not his advisers.Still to prove, with a written order by GWB,that he ordered the stopping of "waterboarding" after Nov. 2006.-

Chris. You have yet to prove he wrote an order to begin with.doh

He has admitted publicly ordering "waterboarding",but there is no record, when he ordered stopping "waterboarding". The UN deemed "waterboarding" illegal on Noev. 2006 ,did GWB ordered stopping "waterboarding" after the UN finding,if so, has he ever provided proof.

Do you have the verbal order of him telling people to do so? I would imagine the stopping would have been communicated the same way so, when you find the commencement order I imagine the stop order will be right along side it.

Just because he is an ex,and not doing any harm right now, does not mean he is exonatated for his wrong doings as a President, and thats what AI is after, his wrong doings on illegal interrogation. And the story is true, its his public admittance for ordering "watereboarding"interrogation. And because they are more brutal people in power or off power, breaking UN Human Rights Rules, does not mean we arrest the more brutal ones and the less brutal go scot free.- And AI is not after the ones, who abide by the rules, but they are after the ones, who don't,and GWB didn't.-handshake

So you have no actual quote of him ordering waterboarding and also no written order as well yet expect me or others to come up with him saying he has ordered it stopped.

How can you expect something in writing or verbal that you cannot even provide was given to start?

IN any case Chris, Bush took the advice of his legal counsel who told him it was legal. You touted how the Attorney General of Canada and other countries were the ones who were responsible to determine law so, obviously, they are the ones responsible to tell him what was law.

In other words, direct your attention to them - not him as he was only doing his job and taking the advice of his constitutionally appointed advisers.

Heck, he is not God and cannot know everything so must take the advice of people who are the heads of various organizations.
