As a totally disinterested person, it looks to me like (on the numbers) Israel got the worse end of the deal. One Jewish man vs 1000's of Palestinians, many of them alledged terrorists and murderers?

And speaking as a totally interested person, Gilad is now alive and free.
In the past Israel has released hundreds of terrorists in exchange for the dead bodies of captured Israeli soldiers.
Yes it is a bad trade-off, but what are a thousand more terrorists compared to the thousands already in Gaza and the Palestinian Authority areas.
The Israeli army's duty is to rescue captured military personnel and other methods of getting Gilad free have not been successful (he was so well-hidden) so this was the only way.
Yes, these freed terrorists have vowed to return to their terrorism, but terrorists attack Israelis on a daily basis whether by knives, stone-throwing at moving vehicles, rockets into towns and villages, etc.
Israel didn't even know if Gilad was alive till just a few days before his release from captivity. He had not been granted even visits by the Red Cross which is a violation of the Geneva Convention.

Not in this case. Israel got their Gilad back alive (although clearly not well physically and emotionally) and not the dead remains of Israelis that Hamas have abducted in the past as a trade-off for releasing Hamas/Fatah terrorists and murders from Israeli prisons. Although Hamas and Fatah have promised to capture more Israelis as they think this tactic pays, believe me they won't even dare to try.
And anyway what is there to negotiate with Hamas - land? They have the land!
No - Hamas and Fatah will learn before even trying to capture a Jewish citizen that it should not even be attempted.

Stealth is the key word. I hope only those that need to know do know. Let those scum quake in fear as to who will be next. They will wish they had stayed in jail where they had all mod-cons. Education facilities, recreational facilities, 3 Halal meals a day, tv, cellphones etc. You know even that was not enough for them and while in jail they went on hunger strike but the very next morning broke their hunger strike for breakfast!!!

Yes, that's right. Israel doesn't care about releasing Palestinians because Israel can just send up a drone or a missile or a plane or whatever to massacre the Palestinians in their homes or their cars or their gardens, or their mosques or whatever.
No Palestinian is ever safe. They are sitting ducks in their own homeland while the foreign born Jewish invaders are virtually immune to any danger from the Palestinians.

Like always MEMRI (an Israeli creation) takes portions of what somebody says and "translates" it very creatively to make it seem to say things that it doesn't say.
Then he says that it cannot be accomplished all at once, it will have to be done incrementally.
He then says. "If Israel evacuates Jerusalem and dismantles the wall, it will come to an end." That is not a threat of violence. It's not a menace of a massacre, it's a demographic prediction. If Israel abandons apartheid and withdraws to its legally recognized borders, the state of Israel will cease to exist. Because without the promise of free land stolen from the Palestinians, and the cheap labor provided by enslaving the Palestinians, Israel would cease to exist economically.
Unlike the Palestinians who have lived there without any aid from anybody for thousands of years, the European Jews have never been able to live off the land. They have always depended on massive foreign aid from the US and on dubious reparations blackmailed out of nearly every country in Europe.
If Israel had to try to life off the land in its own territory Israel would cease to exist as a nation. And both the Palestinians and the Jews know this to be true. So he is simply stating a fact.
Then, in typical MEMRI dis-informational style the discourse is cut and we hear a later part of the speech without any way of knowing what was said in between. Since the listeners don't speak arabic and there is no explanation about the skipped part of the speech people can get the impression that there is some contextual link between the two excerpts, but knowing MEMRI's record of intentionally twisting dialog I doubt if any such link exists.
Anyway we go from his saying that Israel would cease to exist if it had to abandon the territory it has stolen since 1967 to a later part of the speech where he asks, "who is is nervous, upset and angry now"?
Without context we have no clue whether he's talking about Israel or Palestine or somebody else. It's just a question. Not a threat and it is not necessarily referring to the phrase about Israel ceasing to exist. This is typical of MEMRI's twisting of people's words.
Then there's another break and he says
"If we say we want to wipe out Israel, c'mon, it's not acceptable policy to say that, don't say such things, keep such sentiments to yourself.. I want the resolutions that everybody agrees upon. I say to the world, to the quartet and to America, "you promised, and you turned out to be liars". I expect this was in reference to the Oslo agreemments that Israel agreed to and then never respected.
This twisting of the guys words is similar to the oft-told lie (also created by MEMRI) that the president of Iran called for Israel to be "wiped off the map". He never said anything of the sort, he simply quoted the Ayatollah Khomeini in saying that he looked forward to the day that the Zionist entity would disappear from the pages of history. No threat, no menace, no wish for violence, just a wish that one day an oppressive invading occupational regime would cease to exist.
If MEMRI pretends to be exposing the truth, how come they so often stoop to blatant distortion of what people say?

Pretty hard to steal something when you agree to the division agreement then are attacked by those who just didn't like the deal because you are alive.
Your silly maps would mean little to support your point when the fact that they were the ones being attacked in taken into account. To counter it, possibly if the Palestinians didn't try to kill all the Jews time after time, the Jews would feel no need to occupy the strategic ground from which they were attacked from n'est pas?
Oh, and let's not forget that Jews came from that land so let's not try your usual game where you say they had no right to any land there. After all, Jews came from somewhere and that somewhere is there.

Indeed. Some of them were fairly hideous human beings however, the reason for this thread is to make note of the something that is not so obvious - Israel and Hamas negotiated. Something that both of them vowed to never do with the other.
Interesting to say the least as it is the official policy of both to never do so.
