chris27292729: Surely they are muslims converted to other religions Ali,and your faith is respected, but your post indicate that your religion is the only "truthful and Real" one, according to you,so the same can be said by devout believers,of other religions.-

Ali,because you believe, what you call "truth and Dignity" in you faith, does not mean other Muslims, have to believe as strong, in your religion as you.-In short, you cannot make each and every Muslim a devouty.-cheers

Noeski: Here in America, Thanksgiving is a holiday where family and friends get together and celebrate. It's origins are from the days when the Pilgrims settled in the New Land. Generally there is a huge meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, cranberry sauce, sweet potato pie, stuffing, rolls, pumpkin and apple pies and much, much more. It's a huge feast and generally lots of fun.

pilgrims or more like "land robbers" (to put it mildly)?blushing dunno rolling on the floor laughing

The English come over and steal the Indians land. America soon follows suit. Next comes the Civil War. In order to try and preserve the Union, Abraham Lincoln designates the last Thursday in November as Thanksgiving, a made up holiday celebrating a made up event. This replaces a holiday celebrating a real event that happened in the war of 1812. Schools soon lap it up. The made up event is now passed off as real history, joining The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, who, around the same time as The Great Thanksgiving Debacle, gets credit for the ride Israel Bissell made. In Paul's defense, he did ride from Boston to Cambridge, and the belief that when Cristopher Columbus sailed, every one believed the Earth was flat. They didn't. Thus ends the real story of Thanksgiving.

All that aside, I really do enjoy spending the day with my family. I just wish we didn't need a holiday in order to do it.

hi. my post had less to do with guts, and more to do with truth. america isn't the only country with false histories or forgotten histories...everyone has them

I see how Thanksgiving works now is that we only have to give thanks for all we have once a year. The reminder of the year we can piss and moan about what we don't have.laugh

I suppose the very same goes for Mother's Day,Father's Day,Valentines Day etc.WE're only required to show our love for someone because a holiday dictates we should.
