A friend wants to get tattooed with the name of his (now) serious girlfriend. I told him, marry her, have a few kids, but a tattoo - thats so permanent.

Then again men who have experienced pain are better prepared for marriage, as they have experienced pain and bought jewellery?

And how do men feel about the women in their lives with tattoos?

I'm not into tattoos or piercings personally so Its highly unlikely I would ever get one. Although If I was to ever get a tattoo, it would only be if i had kids. Maybe a tattoo of their names or something. Your kids will always be in your life. If a relationship ends, you are going to look pretty stupid with an ex-partner's name on your body that will probably take a couple of grand to remove. Not to mention if you meet someone else, he or she is not going to be happy about it.

if hes dead set on getting it , tell him to get it done small , will make it easier to be covered up in the future !! a lot cheaper than removal !!

i didnt think of that !! alot of tattoo places will ask questions before doing a name tattoo and can discourage people from getting partners names , one place in cork will actually refuse to do them if its a gf/bf !

Love women with Tatts and piercings, but as far as getting a name tattooed, never should be done unless its your kids, know a few people that did it and regreted it and had to go for a cover over and thats more painful!!

if he is really set on getting it,chinese writing would be a great idea,at least then if they split and he moved on with someone else, they will be none the wiser when they ask what it means

I like them and I find them a turn on when tastefully done. I wouldn't be interested in a Lady with a swastika on her forehead but thats just me laugh
Each to their own and people casting judgements on people with tattoos and piercings are saying a lot about themselves.
If its not hurting someone (else) why care ?
It just comes down to our personal taste.

peace

i dont think it's as crazy or wrong as everyone else, if you do love with that much intensity the tattoo represents that perfectly, if the relationship ends, the tattoo still represents that moment in time where you loved perfectly. it's in our nature to hold onto bad memories and blame, i think we should leave hate behind and remember good things

I agree with you there, but isnt there a temporary tattoo you can get done?one that fades away?I wanted to get a tattoo but kinda wary about what it will look like when i get older.
