Godsgift: I phoned and asked them about checking my meter for calibration. They say I would have to pay for the call out. (It's their damned meter.)

So I've emailed Liveline and Joe Duffy. We'll see if anything comes of it.

Hiya K wave

I spoke to my cousin (she works for Airtricity uh oh ) and she says to switch supplier, and never to stay with the same supplier beyond one year. That way you get to avail of the 'new customer' offers (which tend only to run for a year) every year.

Well electricity prices went up by around 12% recently. The bloody standing charges and the VAT can be a real killer. Just take note of how you use electricity over the next few months e.g. electric kettles and cookers are heavy as are electric showers.

Just checked my esb.. yes my bill is overdue, paying online? ya never remember.. anyways.. mine was €160 for 2months, 4bed bungalow, heating rarely on. but the tumbler dryer? all clothes from me and 3kids from washing machine straight into dryer, so i spose its not bad?

as for switching supplier? i rang airtricity? when i moved into this place in february, and they wanted €200 deposit, and they were going to keep that for 3months? now. im a single parent, lucky enough to be working, but applied for fis in march, and still waiting on it coming.. how can people like me just give airtricity 200 to keep hold of for a while?

Godsgift: I am on a monthly budget plan and they have just raised it from €54 to €87 per month. So basically it seem that I am using about €77 per month in electricity. I'm single and live alone. I don't have electric heating but I do have an electric immersion which is on for half an hour per day.

Can someone tell me if this is excessive? How much does everybody else pay per month?

Hi GG!

I get a bill every 2 months, ranging from €70 - €120 for every 2 months.. My last bill was €110 but the previous 3 bills were about 70-80 quid, so it seems excessive to me!

Not bad at all.

I switched back to ESB recently after getting my 'statement' from Airtricity for the coming 12-months. They were going to charge €148 for ONE month. €1776 for the year.

It is ESB i am with actually, not airtricity! I think the word of airtricity being cheaper than ESB is pure nonsense!

Yes, I did get that you were with ESB handshake

I never use the emmersion, but I do have an electric shower which we all use daily the central heating (which is on for a total of 2hrs a day) heats enough water for other things.
