LouiseDreaming: Gosh, how this common language doesn't work!!
I wasn't offended at all, and my 'respect' was to say how pleased I was that you help our 4 legged friends. Personally my community isn't bothered by food left out, but I know others that are, and I do understand why it bugs them. Dog poopie... aaugh... another frustrating subject...
Monte, again, I'm totally with you over the disabled parking abuses - (don't come to Spain - what pass as disabled ramps have us Brits planning wheelchair race competitions - they are so steep!!) so many people just don't care about others.
Thanks for clarifying that Louise. I really felt bad thinking I offended you.
What you said about "so many people just don't care about others" sums it up very well. It all boils down to inconsideration. People have changed and I don't know if it's because of the world not being at peace or if the recession is taking it's toll on us folks. It seems there are those who are selfish and just for themselves.
Well now I'm bugged about something else While posting I was trying to rearrange my desk so that the monitor and keyboard and in a more workable space. I had to disconnect wires and I panicked to the point that I wrote down something like this: top space for square bracket; middle space round cable; bottom space for plug. Isn't that sick that I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get back on CS.. Well as you can see, I'm all plugged in. Thanks for your posts Louise..
montecito: I'm angry over people parking in handicapped parking spaces who aren't handicapped.
I not not permantly handicapped but I do have a placard to hang on my mirror because I have difficulty walking until I get a knee replacement.
I was in a parking lot yesterday and as usual during the holiday season shoppers fill up the parking spaces. I saw a car pull into a handicapp space and as I was about to go past it the driver jumped out of her car and walked over to her friends. As I got next to her, I put my window down and said "Excuse me, do you have a handicapp placard". She said yes and I said "You don't look handicapped to me". Her friends shouted at me "She had foot surgery, mine your own business". My response was "I am minding my own business. I need the space and you don't look handicapped to me". They couldn't believe that I had the nerve to confront them on what this woman had done. She walked into the store without even a limp !!
I was at another store where there were 12 handicapp spaces and all of them were full. As I was waiting for a space, six people walked briskly to their cars.
There was another time after my first knee replacement that I went to the library where only three spaces were handicapped. A woman got out of her car and started walking to the door. I asked her how she is handicapped (takes nerve doesn't it) and she said "Oh, I had breast surgery". I asked her when and she said "Awhile ago". I told her I would like to have the parking space and she said "I won't be long" and she didn't move her car.
It infuriates me but I can't do anything about it.
There are three kinds of handicapp notifications. One is red which is for a short term need. One is blue which is what I have for longterm need and the third is for people who are permantly handicapped and they have a special license plate for that.
The problem is that people continue to use the placard even after they have healed, and that is wrong.
So I'm hoping that somebody else will tell me what's bugging them so I can think more about your bug then my own....
I, too, am equally irked at people who park in handicapped spaces when they're not entitled to. My ex is disabled, and when I was driving I would continually see people doing this. Our local police prefer us to call the police, rather than confront people personally.

Hey Hugger....I don't know what the police can do. By the time you call them, the person will be gone.
I was just reminded of something else that bugs me.
People who leave their dog in a car on a very hot or cold day and then go into a store.
I called the police on a man who did that and he knew that I called them. He told me to watch out cause he had my license plate and if the cops contacted him, he would kill me. He left before the police got there. I had every reason to believe him cause his body language said he was capable of it.

On my night off....

The next year I was told that if I planned to be at work that day, I had to go to the Christmas party. LouiseDreaming: Respect monte. I hate to see any animal suffer. But I've had to steal my heart when I've been on holiday in other European states and here in Spain, I know if I took in one, I'd soon have a houseful of cats. Dogs in Spain are considered to be guard dogs and are routinely left with little food and water, and bark all hours of the day and night. There are supposed to be regulations, but getting them enforced is another matter.
The problem with the feeding of cats in my area, is that food is left on the walls and private areas of 'communities', which attracts rats etc. I know of a brilliant charity in a particular Greek isle that ensure that stray dogs and cats are fed but also capture and neuter/spey them, then re-release. That said, there are various local charities here in Spain that help dogs/cats/horses, and they are ALL run by British ex-pats.
Hi Louise,
I lived in Spain for 7 years but had the good sense to get out 2 years ago. It is actually illegal to feed stray cats on urbanisations. They have programmes now whereby they sterilise any cats they can catch.
There is another problem relating to ex Pats who are coming home in their hoards but leaving their pets behind as they cannot afford the added expense. You should read up about the Dog sanctuary in La Linea.I raised money for this Charity which was inundated with abandoned and starving dogs, and got a lot of publicity which attracted helpers.

What's bugging me today (apart from the continual rain here in Spain) is that every time I come here I am bombarded with - 'Chat with a Russian or Ukranian Princess!' 'Date an Asian Lady' or 'Date a Latino woman'. (But I have to say, the Latino lady looks a bit suspect to me).
Hello CS, I'm a woman, and approximately 50% of the population, where is my 'Eye candy'?
