Tonight is the work party I've opted out of for the last few years. Attire is a must, no little black dress, no high heels. I've got it, Santa's little helper. Little red dress with black leather belt and boots. I work with these people and I guess it's time I play with them.
montecito: I'm angry over people parking in handicapped parking spaces who aren't handicapped.
I not not permantly handicapped but I do have a placard to hang on my mirror because I have difficulty walking until I get a knee replacement.
I was in a parking lot yesterday and as usual during the holiday season shoppers fill up the parking spaces. I saw a car pull into a handicapp space and as I was about to go past it the driver jumped out of her car and walked over to her friends. As I got next to her, I put my window down and said "Excuse me, do you have a handicapp placard". She said yes and I said "You don't look handicapped to me". Her friends shouted at me "She had foot surgery, mine your own business". My response was "I am minding my own business. I need the space and you don't look handicapped to me". They couldn't believe that I had the nerve to confront them on what this woman had done. She walked into the store without even a limp !!
I was at another store where there were 12 handicapp spaces and all of them were full. As I was waiting for a space, six people walked briskly to their cars.
There was another time after my first knee replacement that I went to the library where only three spaces were handicapped. A woman got out of her car and started walking to the door. I asked her how she is handicapped (takes nerve doesn't it) and she said "Oh, I had breast surgery". I asked her when and she said "Awhile ago". I told her I would like to have the parking space and she said "I won't be long" and she didn't move her car.
It infuriates me but I can't do anything about it.
There are three kinds of handicapp notifications. One is red which is for a short term need. One is blue which is what I have for longterm need and the third is for people who are permantly handicapped and they have a special license plate for that.
The problem is that people continue to use the placard even after they have healed, and that is wrong.
So I'm hoping that somebody else will tell me what's bugging them so I can think more about your bug then my own....
Yes that happens a lot here, some just couldn't give 2 hoots,my mum is 79 and has a dissabilty tag, but when she's not in the car i never take those spots.
