seems Germany and the Wild Bunch isn't over the Hill yet!
But they are mighty pissed off at the Brits!peace
Serves them right!
That development toward a European Collective with Brussels(Berlin) as the ones calling the shots was a foregone conclusion from the very inception of the EU!
High price to pay to just keep two Idiots,Germany and France from tearing each others Gullets out about once every twentyfive years.doh

epirb: it was also a opportunity to attack while german tanks were in Poland .
There was a need to review and repair those tanks and tactics before the Germans attacked . What a lost chance , what a shame .
should have whacked them as far back as 1935!

yes , My father would have had to pay for his own OE rather than getting one on the taxpayer , he was not to keen about spending the last few weeks as he was on one of the pow counter - marches . Lost chances all lost because of timidity in the leaders of the time , same going on now .frustrated

Rummy1: Yes I do.Cos London Is one of the most important city in the west.
Btw.I'm not against west.In fact I like Europe. But Sometimes in London I was thinking that I'm in India or in Africa.

Very, very little that's Western about London these days. Other than that, I couldn't agree with you more. cheers

Rummy1: No ,but i've lived in central London more than 5 years and could compare .Its a long story if I count what was better and what was worse.I m not gonna talk about it.All I can say that USSR wasn that bad as you imagined. We just had different ideologies.

I just in-hide my profile for a moment to give support to Rummy. I was born and raised in the USSR, I totally agree with him.
I had a happy childhood, everyone had a job and education he or she wanted to have. Education was free on all levels, medical services were free and there was almost no crime. The live was safe and happy, we couldn’t discuss the politicians, so what? Who cared of them, I lived in west for a long time now, politicians are crooks everywhere anyway. Good night everyone, Elena

So what you mean to say is;

'I was born in USSR and all of us had better life than in central London.'

When you actually go to other places in the west and live there, you will then be qualified to comment on them as well. As for speaking for every person in the USSR, I highly doubt you lived and knew all of them so possibly, you might just speak for yourself and your extremely limited experience.

Well, may be bad peace is better than grand war? Everything has its price and as somebody from a small nation (Latvia) I am very well aware of these costs.

Godsgift: It's taken you 70 years but you've finally taken over Europe without firing a shot. Makes you wonder why British, American, Australian, Canadian etc lives were wasted protecting France and the rest all these years ago.

Some of this is true, but life was not that rosy though. Education was good, people enjoyed cultural activities, there was access to healthcare for everyone, true. The attitude to communist party leaders was not to take them seriously. They were main target for jokes, do you remember? But there was crime and the party functioneers were taking good advantage of their positions to enrich themselves. We could not travel and we did not have nice things, life was quite gray, and we wanted more freedom. The system was corrupt and collapsed. But what we got instead, capitalism is collapsing too. It is also corrupt. God knows how things will turn out in the future, lets hope for best, but prepare for worst! laugh

Oh, they did. But it is not about the past now, it is about future. There are no perfect solutions in politics, the question is which is the least of evils. For most not so big nations go-it-alone way is not an option, at least not at the moment. I just wonder which way will Ireland chose?
