I know personally I feel comforted by the fact I believe there is no life after death. I know many others who think my notion is horrendous.

I firmly believe in a 'life' after death. I'm not religious in any way, shape or form, but I do believe in a 'God'.
It doesn't matter what I perceive this afterlife to be, because it's my own personal belief and it only matters to me. Whether or not there is an afterlife or not doesn't matter but the conviction with which you perceive it to be or not be (if it's important enough to the individual) is all that really matters.
