But when I am on here, I really enjoy it, and wish I could spend more time on the forums
Sunnydaze14: Point taken, I agree, we should "listen" to each other more, but realistically, I put my hands up (sorry, didn't mean to applause, just put my hands up )more often than not, I tend to skim through threads, not reading everything, but when something catches my interest, I reply . My time on here is limited because I am busy most of the time, so I can't read everything

Vulpine: Ah right. Thanks for that. Just generally overall curious as to what many different individual people think. It's always good to find about as much as you can about people.... I mean...you never know who might be an axe murderer. Knowledge is power!
Knowledge is only power if you don't hear me creeping up behind you.
jac379: Knowledge is only power if you don't hear me creeping up behind you.
Well, it's neither then is it?!?! As the knowledge would be non-existent...
Btw, you could just join the end of the queue with the other girls if you want to go out on a date with me. Sorry, I'm all for fairness and rules is rules
jac379: Will you run that one by me again, please?
Sorry, what I meant was, was that I wonder does the mere act of 'hearing' the complaint imbue a sense of justification to the person... It's like the unconscious doesn't actually quite register *who* the affirmation (or complaint in this case) came from so astutely. This is just all my own opinion okay, so I'd ask people to cut me some slack. But whilst your unconscious knows *to a degree* that it was just *you* who has said, whatever it is...it still absorbs some of the content of what was said. It may have a residual conditioning affect on one's own mind....and thus therapy, for the sense of justification the person feels on hearing their own complaint voiced by someone (even if it's themself)
tomcatwarne: Hijaq of course variation in opinion makes for an interesting thread thread, but when people take the thread and use it as their own platform this is showing no respect for the OP, if people want to change the thread altogether why not start a new thread?
Another point is the OP who poses the thread and then takes no further part in the said thread. This is as bad as hijacking (in my opinion)
Well yes, prudence would dictate that it just is plain bad manners to go hijacking immediately. I mean, damnit, it wouldn't even be too bad, if those who did that, actually still made some effort to contribute to the thread, in the first part of their post......and THEN stick in their "Hi Mammy! Hi Aunty Sheila!! How's Fido?! Tell Billy I'll be back Friday for some cabbage"
And yeah, totally agree with you re. the absentee OP. I reckon this might be just used as a form of gaining attention to their profile for dating interest, or just pure ego bolstering...whatever....
Of course, there's probably another million and one reasons which I haven't thought of...some of them probably honourable and valuable...which my friend Jac of course will wave under my nose...after she's thought she's crept up on me

Sunnydaze14: JAC! so nice to be noticed!
I do agree with you, sometimes a thread hijack can be a good thing, if the op disappears and people continue on , having fun, after all, this site is meant to be fun isn't it ? And nobody can dictate to another what is fun, as long as its harmless to anyone. I do wonder sometimes why people get so serious , arguing about politics and religion, there are sites that are meant for serious discussions and this is not one. Although some light discussion on these topics are ok, after all, some people are here to find partners, it is a dating site, and people will want to find out if they share certain veiwpoints. But I think sometimes these discussions descend into two or three people fighting with each other, getting nasty. And thats not what this site is supposed to be about. JMO
I always read your posts whenever I see them and I'll stalk you if I see your name on my home page. I don't know if that's particularly reassuring, but I do like reading that which you have to say.
Serious discussion can be good in terms of finding a like-minded partner, can't it? Sometimes people just really enjoy a proper nitty gritty debate thread and maybe only two. or three people have really gotten into a subject. Loads of threads, loads of pages, room for everything, I say. Having said that, I agree with you if it gets nastily abusive.
