jdc5558: I,m in shock I guess. I've been engaged to a wonderful girl for over a year. We had a date set for January. At work they were trying to get me to quit, so that they wouldn't have to pay unemployment. For those in my age bracket you know what I'm talking about. Older more experienced better educated. The want to hire someone younger at a lower wage. Well I saw the writing on the wall and found another job. This one requires extensive travel
but pays double what I made previously.
Bottom line. She doesn't like me being gone that much so her solution. Break up. In this economy jobs are hard to come by and well paying ones even harder. I explained that it was temporary until I could find something local. Worst case I plan to retire in 5 years.
I got a text Friday ending things. I'm a little disappointed to say the least.

Good riddance. She is an idiot. If she does not understand that in this economy it is more important to have a job (let alone one that pays double of the previous one) than to be at home, then you really are better off without her.
