Ah , those rumbling buckled wheels of justice Snowy . I am however in agreement with you on it
They couldn't possibly have had a fair trial after all the publicity surrounding them, including one paper publishing a front-page headline saying they were guilty. Also they were only tried again because the double jeopardy rule was abolished. This rule was one of the major protections of the citizen from state tyranny. As time goes by, state power will be extended to the stage where they can keep trying you again and again until they get the desired verdict.
I feel juatice will only be served when they get the rest of them 
....only for his mothers sheer determination and courage i doubt if anybody would have been held responsible ....I hope this allows her the time to grieve now...i think she is an amazing woman
