People who know me well, know that I'm ever-so-slightly obsessed with the macabre. Death, true-crime, serial killers...I have an uncomfortable attraction to the dark side. I love to get a glimpse behind the curtain...find out what makes those who do bad deeds...well, do bad deeds.

So this got me to thinking...what are YOUR deep, dark obsessions??? What are the secrets you keep from the people who are only mere acquaintances? Silly or scary...come on! I'm not going to judge! After all...I've told you mine. Or maybe it's someone you've come across...a friend or maybe someone you've dated that had an obsession that scared you off.

Confess!! Confess!! Confession is good for the soul, after all. professor

My obsession (hopefully not a strange one) deals with Life itself. My father used to have conversations about the power (or lack thereof) of the mind. Why aren't we able to use *all* of our minds?

I read a book called "The Celestine Prophecies" and although the story is purportedly fiction... what if it wasn't? The author was able to transport between the worlds... vibrate through concentrated, controlled energy manipulation... *I* want to *do* that!!!

Is re-incarnation true? Is there really a God? Why are we here? What is the purpose behind this journey we're on?

Another book by the same author, says that mankind is about to enter a *spiritual awakening*... the next stage in our evolution.

What is going to happen then?

When the spiritual Mahatma, Sri Mata Amritanadamayi Devi... was asked about the impending end of the world according to the Mayan calendar...

She laughed and said "do not worry my children, the world will not end, you have nothing to worry about"

I guess I will eventually die curious... but the journey is sure worth it laugh

I love it! I have felt that too...wanting to do the things that we dream are possible. I read a great true story in Time magazine once about The Nun Study. It was a study of a convent of nuns with a very detailed history...letters and essays from when they entered until their death...even the menus of what they had eaten over decades. Each nun was tested and observed for signs of dementia and alzhiemers and then asked if the scientists could autopsy their brains after death. One particular nun was very elderly but super-sharp...did crossword puzzles, kept up with all her former students, participated in lively debates and discussions... After her death, her autopsy revealed that she had classic, advanced Alzhiemers disease!!! So, don't give up, Sir Knight!! The mind has secrets all it's own...who knows what you can do if you really try!!

Hmm... I had a experience, where things stopped to be things, and time ceased to exist - afterwards I realized I've been sitting in the same spot, staring at the same spot for 10 hours straight - it changed what I want, what I ask, what I look for, and what I do. I would become "obsessed" if I saw anything related of significance to the understanding of it, but its a long time ago :)

Astral projection is a way to control your mind and body.
Early in life I learned many things and out of body was a tool
to not feel the pain.
Later in life I found that astral projection was what it was called.

I wouldn't call my experience a 'near-death' Knight, and if not an Out-of-Body then I'd call it a Near-Life experience!

But I don't understand. My Crown Shakra is the one most opened in me, why is it so hard for me to duplicate the experience??

moping still searching.

NAKEDMUDPEOPLE: Google astral projection.

Believe me, I've already read a lot on the subject. Astral Projection, OBE, NDE, Opening of Shakras, String Theories, metaphysical theories, the two state of atoms (physical and non-physical, dimensional counterparts...
At this point (and for a couple of years really) I think my answers do not lie in the "academic" but in the Self, my inner world and what lies beyond.

Thanks, NMP. Yes, google is our friend (ahem) lol

That would sure be interesting, meeting another entity in that realm, but you'll have to 'wake me asleep' first and, please, be gentle, for your own safety laugh

hi Mermaidon,
don't know if you're interested. but there's a place called the Monroe Institute in Virgina, that can help you to train yourself to be able to do that; get to that body asleep, mind awake. Bob Monroe is the fellow that first wrote about 'out of body' experiences back in the 70's. they offer a mind expansion workshop called 'gateway'. i don't want to go on about it now as i don't want to sidebar the thread. but if you are interested, i could give you more information beyond what is on their website.

I can visit day or night.
wink
So, if you have a flash, think of me.

It's like self hypnosis, take three, deep, long cleansing breaths and start
breathing normally.
Think of who, what, when, where and why you want to go, know
you are safe and will come home.
See yourself traveling over the mountains, deserts and oceans to get where you want to go.
I don't practice this much, but have experienced it when I have needed it.

I met a woman when I was pretty young..and I had already read and had a big interest in metaphysics. Anyway, she was into Eckankar, though at the time she did not say that,,,she just talked about it a lot. My point was that out of body travel is involved very much with the belief. I was on a plane returning from Hungary HU. I thought it was very interesting when the plane I transferred to was packed with people coming to usa to a seminar on eck. the woman I sat with gave me a card that after I got home turned over and it had two letters "HU" on it. I did not know that was used in their way of life,,,,had nothing to do with Hungary.....But for me it was a very interesting moment.

as you know Niko-B..there are no accidents....grin
the universe is sending you everything you need. someone else said it much better on another thread..
but jono-ized....the trick is to just keep your awareness where it notices that which is bumping into you...(much better said on the other thread by SSH if you noticed that conversation)
