Carl96190: Seriously, nothing.
Some things give me satisfaction, such as mastering something in karate, or doing a good job, or nursing a sick animal back to health, but joy . . . nothing.
I am numb inside.
I was once asked what happy memories I had of my childhood. I had to say that I truthfully did not have one single happy memory.

Carl...howzabout lunch and a game of Rorschach cards?

great thread Venerethumbs up

Joy is very subjective, for me it can be just walking out into the garden and enjoying the beauty of the plants there.

I also find it in the tails wags and looks from my dog who reminds me it is the simple things that are joyful as the look on her face when I say "walk", or then even greater joy of when I say "ride" are priceless.

We cannot rely on others to bring us joy as we have to be open to feeling it first JMO

So when your nursing a sick animal back to health and you see them well again do you grin or smile at them, give them a pat or a hug and feel good when you do because they are ok....that is a form of joy Carl. Joy comes in many forms bouquet

I understand what Carl is saying, though Faithe. Joy is a very raw emotion, something completely unbridled and free to express. One's face lights up, every ounce of your body feels the energy surging through. Even on a winter's day, it's as if the sun is shining brightly.

That's not what Carl describes in feeling satisfaction though - he refers to feeling numbed - not even close to any form of joy.JMO dunno

Ta, jem wave Yes, like pain, joy is not measurable other than through self-report , though muscle testing, eeg's and brain scans would reveal physiological and neurological changes going on, while we feel say, joy...Sometimes, the simplest things can lighten up our whole being.

I want to post a couple of photos where I did feel joy in just savouring those moments. Will give it a go a bit later, but I managed to upload them onto photobucket last night.
